Well, just tried the R-Types again and this time I did not get a guru on R-Type, though when I did yesterday I had just entered AAAAA... all the way across for the high score and maybe it didn't like that [EDIT: Nope- just tried again, got a high score, entered AAAAA... again and no guru]. I just did ABCDEF for the name entry today and it was fine with it. For R-Type II however I still got the guru, but for all I know it is a game bug and no fault of either WinUAE or your configuration (same with yesterday's R-Type guru). It is triggered when I destroy the first snake-like thing just after the three elevators you have to work your way through. It seems though I have to destroy the snake-thing before it completely appears from the bottom, otherwise the game proceeds as normal. I triggered it with both the old and new configuration.

I tried to see if I could replicate your issues with R-Type II and I couldn't? The 1st snake that appears, I have....

1. Killed it when its half out off the ground.
2. Killed it when its completely off the ground.
3. Not killed it.

I tried this combination on all snakes after the first and the game does not crash? So I am not sure how you are getting this problem?

Are you changing any settings in config? If not share a savestate just before it crashes and we can test it from your savestate.

I don't know what to suggest; I played through the first level at least 5 times yesterday and all was good. It didn't matter if I killed the snake or not.

Anyone else have this problem that Qun Mang reported?

this is a wrong behaviour mostly due to a bad configuration. I did a try and the game doesn't crash here.

Which winuae version ? which crack ?

Configuration file is here and the .ADF used is R-Type II (1991)(Activision)[cr SR][f A1200 Ministry][t +17 LGD].zip (though in my collection it's an older TOSEC filename).

Both myself and ransom1122 cannot replicate the issue that Quan Mang has reported; and we've tested numerous times.

Did play first levels of R-Type I & II without any issues (did not wrote my name in the score table). Default DD's Collection configuration used (except I setted windowed mode instead of full screen mode

).

Edit: regarding your screen-shoot, Damien, are you using W10 ?

...am at work so yes, unfortunately.

My personal laptop at home is Windows 7 though.

I don't know what else to say about the bug that I haven't already. If it is only me, then it would have to be something on the PC side of things since I was using the default configurations Damien set up. I can happily confirm though that I did not encounter it again after switching the configuration to A1200 as per this post. Thanks.

Ok, replace your "R-Type II.uae" configuration file with this one (that has been adjusted to use AGA settings)

Will do, and thanks. Makes me a little concerned about doing future bug reports though if it is indeed something with my computer that caused that. I will at least try updating my Nvidia drivers- I'm a few versions behind (but then again so is my GTX970

).

The card is unfortunately not the oldest part of my computer. When I got the computer, the 700 series was the current series. I've upgraded the video card, HDD and power supply, added an SDD, but the core of the computer (pun intended) is a Haswell series Core i5 + motherboard.

Of course that still sounds newer than your rigs.

My PC is a dinosaur with old dated drivers. I doubt it's the age of the PC.

You should try avi capturing your gameplay via the built In winuae video capture. So we can see what happens.

There's no need to bother doing this...

Qun Mang has already provided enough details; and he's doing nothing out of the ordinary...

Since I was using the "AGA fixed" .ADF... I've now:

Set a standard AGA config.
Renamed the filename to the latest, correct TOSEC convention.

...this small update will be in the next "Update Pack" and should ensure that no one else has the same issue

When I got the computer, the 700 series was the current series.
