Thanks. Now it makes more sense, something corrupts first 8 or so bytes of RAM, for example execbase is totally corrupted which explains the crash.

Still no idea what causes it and what does it have to do with screen change.

Next test: enter debugger again, "f 0" (no need for f 8 anymore), new command "w 0 0 8 w" (break to debugger if something writes to addresses from 0 to 7)

Trigger guru again.

Attach "r" and "H 50" outputs again. Should finally show the real cause for corruption.

Attach your configuration file too.

In the archive, two different configurations that both go guru, one with a harddrive directory the other with a hardfile as a boot disk: the one used in this dump above is the "- 2012 EoB.uae" with the harddrive directory.

Hmm.. It appears something outside of WinUAE corrupts the data because memwatch breakpoint didn't trigger (You did get "Memwatch breakpoints enabled
0: 00000000 - 00000007 (8) W" message after "w 0 0 8 w" command?)

Does http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae.zip change anything? (Reserves virtual memory space from top of address space = different memory allocation)

Have you tried updating display drivers?

Yes I noticed that line; and no, the winuae in the zip attached doesn't affect the guru happening; and the guru message is the same 80000003 00002121DA.
Do you need the dumps of this version too?

I haven't tried to update the graphic drivers because these ones (Catalyst 10.3) are stable, and the changelogs of newer ones seems to affect only more recent cards: since updating the Catalyst requires aggressive uninstall of the present one, i prefer to leave that as last possibility, so, do I really need to?

Bleh

Ok, lets try to adjust configuration more. Same in non-cycle exact? Immediate blitter?

I haven't tried to update the graphic drivers because these ones (Catalyst 10.3) are stable, and the changelogs of newer ones seems to affect only more recent cards: since updating the Catalyst requires aggressive uninstall of the present one, i prefer to leave that as last possibility, so, do I really need to?
I never uninstalled anything when I had ATI card (last had one in beginning of 2012). And changes do change other cards, even if they are not mentioned, drivers are partially unified.

Would at least confirm if it is driver problem or not. Short hangs may be but guru problem probably isn't.

I did also this test: as you know the emulation does not goes guru if booting from ADF or if just using an empty quickstart mode; so i made a clean A1200 quickstart and just added a system hardfile (the one used in the other tests).

This way there's no lag at boot time, differently to its own configuration (and I can't figure where this difference comes from by looking at the configuration file) but the emulation go guru nevertheless when changing the display.

Tested non-cycle exact, with and without immediate blitter, no change.
Ok, I will update the Catalyst.

Ok.. Did you confirm what was first beta that has this problem? b13?

EDIT: What if you set all filter settings to default?

Ok, first of all I've updated the card drivers to no difference;

then I've backtracked the betas and the first one to cause the guru is the b6: I'm real sorry because while I was sure the b14 was the first one, evidently the beta I was using before the 1GB hack was older: sorry Toni;

third, resetting the filters to default doesn't change anything.

Lastly, I've gotta run now, I'll test later tomorrow.

But as said the guru happens even with a quickstart mode + any HD as boot unit

Even if "HD" is empty directory?
HDFs too? HDF + IDE0 controller? (not "UAE")

Boot from the following and changing display mode:

- HDF ---> guru;
- empty directory ---> guru;
- workbench disk with any HD as side disk ---> guru;

workbench disk with no HD at all ---> works;
- HDF + IDE0 ---> works;

I am now quite sure it is mouse driver related. Check that you don't have magic mouse or virtual mouse driver enabled.

(Quickstart won't affect these options = it won't remove requirement to attach config files )

ehm sorry but they are disabled even in the configurations: everything in the game ports panel is defaulted, mouse speed 100.
[edit]: tried to opt in magic mouse and to load mouse driver too, nothing changes

i have found something really strange. I use the latest beta toni did, and it appears that in both config files, the mounted drives are bootable. Only the system partition must be like that, otherwise it can't work.

Strangely i made a CF 8gb under winuae, and i got myself strange result if more than one drive is bootable.

On a real amiga, having all partition bootable is a nonsense.

I modified a bit them, can you try them ?
