Cool, and you can sell that for €35 including import taxes, payment for your time, profit etc? Like I said, put me down for one. You'll have the Delete and Help keys where they should be though, right? And proper-width Amiga keys? And proper-width F-keys? And Control where it should be? €35 sounds like a bargain, sure put me down for two.

I ques any mechanical change cost multiple times more than new print to keys.

- Can I install WHDload?

- Does it run demanding software like Jim Power or Lionheart with no problem?

- Is it possible to slow down/speed up the system? (Very old software vs 3D games like Trapped)

- Does it support ISO with CDDA playback?

- CD32 Emulation?

If you want real answers you should ask over at Amiga.org which IIUC is owned by AmigaKit

The wiki page needs to start with a description of what exactly an A600GS is. Compare it to any given Wikipedia page, for example. All the website tells me is that pre-orders are shipping soon, and the wiki page opens by telling me what specs it has, but not what it actually is.

If you check the wiki site: https://wiki.amiga.org/index.php/A600GS#Applications it will say some about it.. This i found interesting:

" JST (Jean-François Fabre)

JST is included as a way of installing Amiga games onto the A600GS hard drive. Many older Amiga games are designed only to be run from floppy disk. JST converts the game files to be run on the A600GS hard drive. JST can also fix incompatiblities. Most Amiga games have a corresponding Slave file which provides the information on how the game can be installed and patched from the hard drive. JST can use hundreds of existing WHDLOAD game slave files as well as it's own game slave files. This useful utility is a more powerful alternative to WHDLOAD.

On the A600GS, the JST utility is pre-installed in the C directory in AmiBench."

I've been looking at info of this new stuff last 2 hours, but still can't find out what is it's actual speed?
Something like A500 mini?
Faster? Slower?

Can you run Lightwave on it, and render something on it, and how the speed would compare to, for example 030/50Mhz?

Btw, I love that they included Octamed and PPaint.
Drawing in Ppaint on 1080p will certainly be new expirience.

Looks interesting.

@ViddiAmiga

You are now activated on AMIGA.org as a member.

- Can I install WHDload?

Yes - we include JST pre-installed in the C directory but WHDLoad would work fine too.

- Does it run demanding software like Jim Power or Lionheart with no problem?

Jim Power is generally good performance- a few slow downs in places but no major problems. We haven't tried Lionheart yet.

- Is it possible to slow down/speed up the system? (Very old software vs 3D games like Trapped)

You can select slower systems to decrease the performance for compatiblity reasons.

- Does it support ISO with CDDA playback?

This is in development currently- it will follow as a system update after public release. The A600GS has live updates through it's built in wireless/ethernet internet connectivity. We do not want to delay public release any further.

- CD32 Emulation?

It already can play CD32 titles if you add your own ROM.

A600GS packaging is in production …

Custom cut outs for the main A600GS unit and joypad. Printed manual will be included in the box. Cables tucked underneath inlay section.

Thank you!

I´d like to pre-order, but I´m not sure yet.

Essential Amiga titles should fully work on every new system IMO.

Nice packaging btw.

That is one huge misinformation right there. I am not dissing JST, but even the author of JST himself will tell you that line is a big lie.

I strongly recommend getting an A600gs to amilo3438 (assuming he wants one) at cost (or a gift?) as he has extensive experience at testing software (games, demos) against WinUAE / Denise.

His feedback has been invaluable in getting the compatibility of these two emulators up. He gives good quality debug information and understands how important it is to give reproducible instructions.

Plus he must have a list of difficult titles he's come across which are worth testing.

I appreciate you may not be the direct owners/developers of the core emulation used in A600GS however you will be able to pass on the findings and hopefully greatly improve your product.

I also thought so, both are good so why put one at a "higher" position ? Seems like they use the JST button mapping and some license issue with Whdload ? A500 mini got exclusive whdload rights, i read something about this on amigaworld or amiga.org, but not confirmed with WHdload as i have seen.

Seems strange whdload team would accept a one company only license...

Wasn't JST abandoned decades ago in favour of WHDLoad?

At least that's what's written on JFF's JST homepage:

Quote:
(15/09/2001): JST given up. Check there for my latest WHDLoad installs. End of transmission.

Pretty much. It is missing A LOT of features that WHDLoad has (trainers, custom options, lots of games not supported by JST, ...).
