Problematic Demos.

Hi

Have just been tested an 64b Scoopex demo/intro on latest WinUAE b7 Quickstart A500/A500+ configs and it seems the demo does not work correctly:

Note: To start the demo just extract zip file and add .EXE to file.

EDIT: Found in WinUAE "Docs/Readme.txt" a following (see excerpt below):

- Chipset emulation improvements. (EyeQlazer/Scoopex, Blerkenwiegel/Scoopex, No Way Demo/Academy, Brian the Lion AGA, SuperPlus monitor mode)

... and it seems to stop working "correctly"!? after WinUAE 2.6.0 (16.05.2013) version. (Maybe will need to be tested on a real A500 to approve it.)

p.s.
It seems mentioned above EyeQlazer/Scoopex to be also affected together with Blerkenwiegel/Scoopex ... other mentioned didnt tested so cant tell.

EyeQlazer seems to work fine (note that pouet screenshot is from incorrectly working emulation!)

Blerkenwiegel appears to be broken for some reason.

Hi

Have been tested this intro on Quickstart A500 OCS & ECS ... the problem is only with OCS (see 1st pic) as on ECS seems to be Ok (see 2nd pic).

I would not report this but in demo txt file is said that is for 1MB/OCS/ECS ?!

Maybe it will need some testing on a real A500 OCS to approve this.

"Problem" with 256 byte (or any other very small intros) is that they may require some specific environment that isn't necessarily mentioned anywhere. I am not going to guess.

Looks like sprite trash, since I had no room to disable sprite DMA glitches like this may occur. Not an emulator bug at least!

Found another demo that according to nfo file should run in A500 OCS
but I could run it only in A500 ECS and only with visible glitches on rolling photos in comparison to video: [ Show youtube player ]

I have tried with A500 OCS 0.5+0.5mb and got power reset.

With A500 OCS 1mb chip got HALT1 ?! (only once, cant repeat it now)

On A500 ECS 0.5+0.5mb runs but with mentioned glitches (see attached pics) ... picture while rolling changed when comes on brown area.

Main problem is still not running in OCS ... what should be tested on a real A500 to approve it.

It differs from picture or video a lot ... maybe if someone could test it on real A500 ?!

EDIT: Maybe this is not so important and could lead to risk accidentally breaking something else.

Thus I will be still very happy if it stays as it is now.

EDIT1: I have just check it in WinUAE2410 (see pic.2) and it runs according to video ... on WinUAE2510 it runs same as on newer versions (see pic.1)?!

Running the demo on Quickstart WinUAE2700b7 A500 config. missing the left white line.

On an older WinUAE0827 it runs fine. Also tried on older WinUAE2010 and its same as on newer b7.

Maybe keeping all problematic demos in one thread would make it easier to keep track of them? The first post could link to the 'open case' posts and this way it would be easier to handle.

With A500 OCS 1mb chip got HALT1 ?! (only once, cant repeat it now) On A500 ECS 0.5+0.5mb runs but with mentioned glitches (see attached pics) ... picture while rolling changed when comes on brown area. Main problem is still not running in OCS ... what should be tested on a real A500 to approve it. EDIT: In an old WinUAE0827 it runs OK on A500 OCS/ECS and also without rolling picture problem.
