There's a complete video tutorial including the required WinUAE settings:

https://mega.nz/file/Hb5lhCaK#18VnoJ...7vJKbko6uu1RYc

To make things easier, there's even a special P96 install package which includes a driver for Prometheus/3dfx combo (Prometheus.card + 3dfxVoodoo.chip) here...

https://forum.amiga.org/index.php?topic=76219.0

... so after switching from Mediator to Prometheus (Prometheus.library instead of pci.library), the voodoo 3 is now detected on my bus.

However, without finding the voodoo3 rom file this is still a dead end for me... Any help appreciated!

WinUAE does not need a ROM for the Voodoo. The ROM only holds x86 code which cannot be executed on the Amiga anyway.

And you must be blind if you don't find the Mediator software on the Elbox site.

That's a good point but WinUAE itself says it in its error log after starting emulation that it's missing a rom file - and also all the tutorials I've read so far say it. Also, there's often some settings stored in rom files. Last but not least: Loading WinUAE into a hex editor shows that there's a string "voodoo3.rom" in there.

Oh and P96 says it can't start the voodoo card.

I blame the small font!
(Been to Elbox's site before)

Good news: Got Mediator & Voodoo working with the abovementioned ROMs (64k versions).
Bad news: The PicassoIV is faster (e.g. redrawing the workbench screen after a resolution change)!

Oh and I've noticed that you don't need an 68030 accelerator board in order to emulate PCI. Switching back to 020 after installation works fine.

Also, the uaegfx freezes I have reported now don't happen as often as before - after all, I have replaced/updated/changed a whole lot of my initial installation...

Try different color modes (BGR vs RGB etc). PC-like little-endian modes might be faster than big-endian modes.

Before testing, make sure sys:prefs/env-archive/picasso96/showmodes contains single string "All" (without quotes) to enable all supported color modes/depths.

Different card drivers can also use SVGA chip's blitter less or more efficiently (every PCI bridgeboard uses different drivers. Which is quite stupid). Probably no one knows what Elbox drivers do :)
