What is that supposed to do? "m" for mouse, as in "hide Amiga mouse pointer"? Have to try.

Sadly, the only link I know includes not only the OpenXcom port but also the full TFTD game, which is still on sale in many digital stores (incl. GOG.com). Providing a link would violate the EAB rules therefore.
But just search for it. It's not hard to find. Last edited by derSammler; 11 October 2023 at 08:23. |

No problem on WinUAE. That works well.
https://artishq.wordpress.com/2023/0...from-the-deep/ To install from the Arti directory, you'll need the files for the original XCom1 and XCom2 sets. XCom1: (to put in UFO) EODATA GEOGRAPH MAPS ROUTES SOUND TERRAIN UFOGRAPH UFOINTRO (option) UNITS XCom2: (to be put in TFTD) ANIMS (option) FLOP_INT (option) GEODATA GEOGRAPH MAPS ROUTES SOUND TERRAIN UFOGRAPH UNITS To switch the game to French (or other language): Copy the three FR.yml (or other) files from the archive. https://web.archive.org/web/20221102...rg/git-builds/ The locations of the language files: common\Language\ standard\xcom1\Language\ standard\xcom2\Language\ Xcom1 is also playable with this Arti version of OpenXcom. Go to MODs and change the game base on the top banner. Last edited by Aladin; 11 October 2023 at 13:03. |

For full experience, you also need the patch files (download from OpenXcom website), the music as WAV/OGG, and - depending on where you got the UFO files from - the sfx files (1.0 or 1.4, the latter sound better). Last edited by derSammler; 12 October 2023 at 08:12. |

Just tested: no. Switching to WB and back to the game will still show both mouse pointers. "Grab mouse" did not work either (well, expected, but I thought I give it a try).
It wouldn't be a problem if I did not use "BigSprite". But I need to, otherwise I won't see the tiny pointer on the Workbench. |

You needs lots of RAM and RTG.
Besides, what's the point of even trying to run this in WinUAE? If you use Windows anyway, get the Windows port of OpenXcom. |

With regard to UFO: Enemy Unknown can I use the files from the Amiga version or does OpenXCOM only accept the PC files?

You need the files from the DOS or Windows release.

Yep, you need the original PC DOS files to make OpenXCom work.
I bought the DOS version on Steam for a few quid when they were on offer. IIRC I got all x3 original games - UFO: EU (Enemy Unknown) X-COM: TFTD (Terror From The Deep) X-COM: Apocalypse The great thing is, that OpenXcom recognizes all x3 original games so you can play all 3 of them through OpenXcom - with all of the updates and quality of life improvements to them. Worth every penny though, as OpenXcom is utterly brilliant ! I've played UFO: Enemy Unknown on an emulated Amiga (as it was one of the games on my bucket list). I've also played OpenXcom on my Linux box, and I must have spent hundreds of hours playing the game. It improves an already awesome game. I'm going to go back to it and play one of the mods (The WH40K mod) next. [Edit] At the time of writing (02/05/24 - 19:47) These games are on offer again on Steam UFO: EU (known as X-Com: UFO Defense) = £2.99 or you can buy the entire 5 game pack for £8.99 (Apologies, I don't wanna sound like an advert, and I don't have any link to Valve or Steam at all). Just thought it was worth a heads up. Last edited by Geordie-Jedi; 02 May 2024 at 20:50. Reason: Additional information |

@Geordie-Jedi
Thanks, I appreciate the intel. The slightly irritating thing is I bought Terror from the Deep on Steam yesterday, so I'll be buying that twice. But I didn't appreciate it could play XCOM-Apocalypse. Something to think about. How does it comare to the original. |
