He completely lost any interest in the Amiga, or I should better say in computers: he is often riding on his MTB through the Alps, that's why he doesn't instantly answer emails, even if he posts online almost every day.
For example, this morning he was on a mountain near where I live.

And his personal site:
http://www.alpenzorro.de/

Probably he'll get in touch when he gets back home.

I seriously doubt that.

I ordered MUI some years ago (must have been 2008) by paying via Paypal using the link from the MUI website, and never got a single answer nor a keyfile
Thankfully a friend of mine who also registered MUI some years back (before my payment), got a generic keyfile (instead of a personalized one) which he kindly shared with me since I paid.

Time to re-classify this as abandonware?

If a global mod gives the nod, I'm happy to post a version of muimaster.library to the zone which doesn't require a keyfile.

Cheers,
Red

p.s. Please don't PM me asking for it if Mods disagree, will be ignored.

You're surely right, but I could get my key around 2010 from him . It was also a generic one though.

Hi Red,

Given that Stefan is no longer responding to emails requesting provision of personalized MUI Registration keys - even when the correct Registration fee is paid via Paypal using the link from the MUI website, and some of those which were provided previously have turned out to be generic keys - then I think he should reasonably expect the MUI software to be considered as abandonware from this point on.

Edit: Also, see DDNI's suggestion below.

Whilst I agree with Prowler about Stefan abandoning this software, I think it is risky to upload it.
We know who the author is, where he is and how to contact him. Would it not be safer to email him with a letter of intent, laying out the issue and our intentions? We should ask for a response within 12 weeks. We should make it clear that the Files will be hosted after that time if no response is received.

Good luck with that

I emailed him to his current email address about two years ago asking him if he could consider making MUI free, and I am still waiting any response

Exactly, he either ignored you or did not want it to be free. This is why a letter of intent stating our intentions if there is no response is important.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Methinks it best if this letter of intent came from someone "official" at EAB...

Prowler?

Cheers,
Red

What email address did you guys try?
I tried <hisrealname>@<hisrealsurname>.com long time ago, and I remember he replied back to me eventually.

@RedskullDC
Would this "new" keyless library be any different from your old DC release?

I payed for MUI for some year's back and i got a generic MUI.key within under 2 week's from Stefan, and he asked me politely to not share it with anybody. If and when he have time, he will respond to all registration email's that he have in his inbox, either his his inbox is full and disabled or he have forgot his own login detail's.

Similar, but not identical to the 020 optimised version released on Aminet.

At the time I last worked on it (2001), I made up a version of the muimaster.library which didn't require the keyfile to enable all functionality.

Cheers,
Red

Yes I'm willing, leave it to me. It's worth a try - especially in view of the additional posts here today.

In fact if I could add the MUI key to AmiKit Real I would make a favour to a lot of people, as a lot of programs need it there to look much better. . But I can't without his permission.

Due to other commitments this week I probably won't get around to composing this email until the weekend.

If anyone has any last minute suggestions, advice, or anything else for me including recently known whereabouts or email addresses for our friend Stefan, then please feel free to post them here.

Thankyou.

He seems to be posting frequently on the mtb forum's. Username is Stuntzi http://www.mtb-news.de/forum/showthr...28846&page=144

May be possible to join there and send him a message? Perhaps in German to make it easier for him...

That's a great suggestion, thanks.

It'll save me disclosing my email address and the effort of encrypting my email. And German won't be a problem either (as you might have guessed).
