Kill Da Aliens: A game I wrote in 1993
Hi all, here is a game I wrote when I was thirteen:
https://github.com/Shanekelly92/Kill.../master/05.adf It's an R-type style shoot-em up. I hope you enjoy! You'll need to enable one megabyte of RAM (I think) and you may need to use the original Kickstart ROMS if it's not working. Also be warned, the theme music is very catchy.... Just press fire to skip the title screen, and fire to start (if it doesn't start, press down to select quit then up to select start, then hit fire). There are a few glitches but it is very fun to play! |

Needs some fine tuning (there are serious lags, cause is unknown), but I quite like it. It has different wepons, smart bomb and a pilot parachute
What language it is written in? |

Definitely AMOS, but kinda alright for the effort of a 13 year old.
Collision detection is a bit iffy, but it has the basic understanding of how to make a game, guessing if you stuck at it you'd have gotten better. You've worked quite neatly around the limitations of AMOS by keeping the background static. Its not the worst thing i've ever seen |

Indeed it was AMOS!
I agree with the points raised -the ship movement is jumpy, and the collision detection is...suspect (though I think that kinda adds to the excitement). If I remember correctly, part of the collision detection problem was due to the Amal sub-language; if sprites were being manipulated with it, the collision detection with non-Amal objects was off. I ditched Amal for my next project, which sadly was never completed (GCSE's, A-Levels and uni got in the way, and then I went off to be a grownup programmer) |

I noticed that once contact has been made from the fire and an object, it freezes briefly, which allows time to rest My brother programmed a Pokemon clone around the same age and using AMOS! I doubt he still has it now |

Nicely done! For something a 13 year old kid would write, most impressive...
