Question Penthouse Hot Numbers Deluxe AGA

As you might have read this game isn't in TOSEC, at least not the AGA version, so I must be lucky when I ask for somebody who tried to run this game in WinUAE...

After completing level 2 the game accesses disk #4 and instead of displaying pictures (like after completion of any level) it will display an error message on red background including the text "... wrong bitcolors ... " (hardly readable as the graphics is defunct at that point).

I know that in May somebody requested this game (cracked by Crystal), so can anybody confirm the mentioned error? Or has somebody managed it to get the game working?

To me it's totally unclear if this is an emulator bug or a disk data bug. As the disks use FFS there's no checksums for file data, but viewing the contained files from disk #4 with an hex editor I didn't find any errors (e.g. DMS ERROR!!! blocks or something else that looks like a block has been overwritten).

As this game is somewhat rare (I found it on Amigascene CD 2 only) I just want to find somebody who can confirm a disk error or an emulation bug. Can somebody help?

Yes, I also get this error message after completing level 2. It's a bad dump I guess...

Hehe, I guess this one could be placed on some MIA list. This sort of error remembers me of the good old C64 times where those were fixed by replacing a corrupt level file by another one. Not really a choice for getting a 100% working version...

BTW: Is it "to replace x BY y" or "to replace x WITH y"?

Hehe, mine is cracked by Classic, too, NOT by Crystal. Shame on me...

BTW: Using cycle exact emulation and non cycle exact give different results on how the playfield is filled with numbers. This works for both AGA and ECS versions of the game in the same way. Anyway, I played around with the config as much as possible but it didn't help. Still get the error message on every try.

Is the HDD version working or not? Or sometimes?

If it's working we can probably figure out which file is defunct on the disk version and replace it by the proper one from the HDD version...

EDIT: Oops, it was made USING the non-working disk version? But for what reason it does work when it's installed but it doesn't when playing from disk?
