Very late, but: It does make sense to replace it with v44+ on 3.0 and higher, because now you don't need a reboot. Just make sure that you remove loadmodule, etc.

@Thorham

Indeed, there is no general "best" solution to load the icon.library. It always depends on the system whether to use LoadModule, LoadResident, RemLib, SetPatch, BlizKick or a custom ROM.

At best, the user is an expert, like you, who understands what's going on and is able to find the perfect configuration for his setup.

If you want to avoid reboots, RemLib from Thomas Rapp can do that, too.

RemLib icon.library

removes the current icon.library from the resident list, but does NOT load LIBS:icon.library resident and will not reboot. The AmigaOS library loader treats the icon.library just like any other disk based library then.

PeterK! Amazing job yet again!

Just a quick speedtest...

DOpus5 on real 060 (Kens v4 pack)
Current r415 - 14.18 sec
Previous version - 14.68 sec

3.5% improvement with so little code changes

That's what we call shaving and polishing

Experimental icon.library 46.4.416:

A new toy for X-MAS. Scale your icons up to 150% width and height with the shell command "IconScalingOnOff"! Have fun and enjoy

Of course, it works with AfA_OS, too. But not as long as icon_lib.exe is installed in AfA_OS_LIBS:. BTW, AfA_OS claims to have its own icon scaling. Have a look into AfAPrefs under Icon -> Size. Don't ask me how it works.

Just a simple click, Just set the measure. If you want to resize the icons PNG finally, found a tool (IconEditor) for OS4 that allows you to do this and many other operations on this kind of icons, i attach screenshots

Sorry, but I still don't get it.
When I set Size to 70 in AfA_Prefs and then USE or SAVE how do I get an icon with 70x70 or something similar?

It did nothing in AmiKit. I don't care about OS4.

I did not understand what you said, to set 70, just type in the appropriate tab 70 and select Use or Save

Bah

AfA's icon scaling can only make PNG and OS4 icons smaller, but it cannot enlarge them. The SIZE is the maximal number of pixels! That's why I could never get a size of 70 or more from my 46 pixel standard icons.

Who needs smaller icons?

I want larger icons for high resolution screens. That's the reason why I added the 150% scaling to the icon.library.

Thats my point too. Maybe somebody with coding skill could improve afa_os ??? Original author wont do that.
