Looking for Apps disks

This time last year, I was totally into Cloanto, and building up a large collection of Games, Demos, Utilities, and anims.
Just about anything I could get my hands on.
And to get them running on this PC , I had to download ADFs .
But now that I have an AMIGA, it seems that I will have to do it all over again.
But this time it's a little bit different.
Last year I was just downloading files, and I could get them for nothing
but now I am looking for disks, and I am going to have to buy them.
Well, that's okay... I will just go ahead and buy them one by one.
So now the great search begins. But where do I start ?
Does anybody know of a good place to start looking ?
Here's a couple of oldies that I would like to find :

I would like to get hold of a D Opus , but the one I want is version 4.12 , I believe.
And of course, I want to find a set of disks for DeLuxe Paint IV
Actually there's a ton of other stuff that I want, but that will come later, once I find a few good sources.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, just to get me started ?
. .

You can try with http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=43633 and grandis.nu/Commodore_Amiga/App/Disk/

Nope , I couldn't see any disks for sale in there.
I saw a few files - but no disks...

Well now, I have suffered a bit of a crisis.
One of my favourite games ( Millenium 2.2 ) has a validation error.
I put it in my Amiga, and up came a message suggesting that I use DiskDoctor to fix it.
So now , there's another disk that I have to look for.
I need a copy of Disk Doctor.

Still looking for websites that sell disks. I had a look in Airey's shop.
I didn't have much hope because he sells mostly games disks,
and Magazine Cover disks.
But guess what I found ......... a 3 disk set for Deluxe Paint.
Unfortunately, it was version III . and the one I'm looking for is version IV
Oh well , I will just keep looking

Not having much luck finding DiskDoctor...
But then I had an idea -
I just needed it to fix my copy of Millenium.
But if I found another Millenium disk , I wouldn't need DiskDoctor
So I went looking for Millenium next.... I didn't find it, but
I found a 2 disk set for Deuteros, which is the next best thing.
It's funny what you find when you're looking for something else.

"DiskDoctor is a CLI program that comes with Workbench/Extras and is supposed to fix disks with errors. Though it's known to do more harm and making them completely unusable."

NO! Do NOT under ANY circumstance use Disk Doctor! You're better off setting your disk on fire. Try good software such as Disk Salv or Quarterback Tools. Really, forget about Disk Doctor, it'll only make things worse.

Thank you for the warning , s2325 and Thorham.
Yes, I seem to recall there was one of these programs that would do more harm than good... I just couldn't remember which one it was.
Okay , I will forget about DiskDoctor.

Hello deicidal,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes I am very interested , as I have been looking for this disk for a long time.

But before I get too excited , I just want to make sure it is exactly what I want.
I am looking for an Amiga program that has been put on an Amiga-formatted disk that is going to be inserted into an Amiga 500.
I am not looking for an adf-file that has been put on a Windows disk that is meant to be inserted into a PC computer.

Hello s2325,
thank you for your reply.
Cross Dos was the first thing that I thought about trying.
Unfortunately, I don't have that application.
I thought it was on my EXTRAs disk, but no, it isn't there.

Hi Jim,

Did you get Amiga Explorer (AE) when you purchased AmigaForever.
You can connect your A500 to your PC using AE and a null mdem cable.

That way you could write adf's to the A500's floppy drive and make your own disks.

@jim

Which Amiga do you have and what is the WB/ROM version?
It could be easier for you to make the disks yourself.

and yes, disk doctor sucks.

WB2.x and 3.x comes with CrossDos capability, just look at the Storage disk in the DosDrivers folder and look for PC0 icon.

Jim, wouldn't it be more worthwhile to write the needed adf file to an amiga disk? Or are you searching for the original disks?

Right, as the others wrote

Hello Arnie, my old friend... Long time, no see

What's all this talk about a null-cable ? That's a word that I haven't heard in 20 years.
I didn't think they still had them around.
And I'll tell you something else that has disappeared.... the A Drive.
The modern PCs don't have a floppy drive slot any more.
As I recall , I had an awful time trying to figure how to get data offa my old floppies
I had to go downtown looking for a solution and managed to find a dinky little External A Drive and it has a cord out the back that plugs into a USB socket. That saved my life.
However I can't see how this can help me , because if I stick an Amiga disk into it- it just doesn't recognise it and puts up a warning message.
And asks me if I want to format it.
Going the other way won't work either.
I copied across "CLImate version 1.201 .adf" onto a PC floppy ,
and then tried to load it into My Amiga 500, and all that happened was
a little icon appeared on the WorkBench screen , entitled DF1:BAD
Clicking on it just caused the screen to flash , and nothing happened.
.

Hello Amiman99,
thank you for trying to help
As you say , quote [WB2.x and 3.x comes with CrossDos capability]
well I have a A500 that has WB 1.3 in it.
I have looked all through these disks, and I can't see a "Storage Disk"
and there's no "DosDrivers Folder"

Forget about the PC floppy drive Jim, it can't read Amiga formatted floppies. The Amiga can read 720kb formated PC disks using Crossdos or similar though but, it's too slow and too much hassle.

Get yourself a null modem cable and a copy of Amiga Explorer and save yourself the hassle.

Only WB v2 and v3 has Storage disk.

To do anything useful and easy, you need v3.1 ROM and some hard drive space. With plain A500 there are only so many options.
You can try the Amiga Forever way, or you can try this way http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=62243
You do need to get some Double Density Floppy Disks, I would avoid HD disks.
You can also try to find some one close to you with a better setup helping you making disks.
