Tough choice, I liked Microprose's title for the simple fact I crashed a lot and went the wrong way, ALOT

Definitely MicroProse Formula One Grand Prix for simulation gaming

Vroom for arcade gaming.

I always had a soft spot for Super Monaco GP but maybe that's because I played the sit down multiple screen arcade version first.

Microprose's looks better, but the speed feeling you get with Vroom is incredible, and going so fast you better don't look at the details around. Also the engine sounds are better.

SuperMonaco compared is an arcade funny game (more details too though), and has a great (faster?) convertion for the C64 [ Show youtube player ]

Domark's F1, which I think was better because you had 2 player action, and even faster action on turbo mode for 1 player!

I really loved this game. Played it a LOT. Microprose's F1 is nice but too sluggish on a stock Amiga, I played it a lot nevertheless but the PC version was so superior.

Ups! Yep it looks better. I haven't played it though. Looks as fast as Vroom and better graphics (amazing to resume )

I love the cushioning feeling on the road in both games if you know what I'm saying.

Engine sound on Vroom/F1 is a little annoying and inaccurate, but I love the "swoosh" it makes when you pass bridges and stuff.

The game was also available for the Sega Megadrive, wth what I think is better engine sounds but slower/poorer graphics:

I actually think Domark's/Lankhor's F1 is the best "3D sprite-based" home racing game ever.

Better than Lotus, Top Gear, Jaguar XJ 220, Super Mario Kart or whatever.

That game is freaking awesome.

Vroom or the frankly unplayable 'F1' in turbo mode

Microprose F1 was way too sluggish on a stock system as someone mentioned earlier.

Imho there is only Microprose F1GP.

Domark's F1 games don't have a lot in common with real F1 since e.g. the tracks are way too inaccurate. They are nice games nonetheless, but F1 games? I don't think so.

Micro prose F1GP for me. I would literally spend hours on that game crashing and watching the resulting carnage over and over again via the action replay. Ha

Sensible Soccer barely feels like soccer, still is the best soccer game ever

Also on arcades, Power Spikes barely plays like Volleyball, still the best Volleyball game I ever played

Another vote for Geoff Crammond's (Microprose) Formula 1 Grand Prix. Proper 3D, quite high realism for its age, and with F1GP-Ed and a modest accelerator, you can get decent framerates and turns it into a fantastic game. Don't forget about analogue control too, nothing like easing into a corner and just touching the apex with the precise control an analogue stick gives you!

Just to add that I LOVE F1GP, and I played it quite a bit in my stock A600... it didn't feel that unplayable back at time.

But GP2 was when I really devoted a shitlaod of time for a F1 simulator

Playing F1GP again more recently I was surprised that it didn't feel amazingly fast. But don't forget you can use Alt-D to adjust the detail level - for Monaco, Phoenix and the starts that did make a difference. The fact that it needed a third-party shareware program to unlock full speed despite being a system-legal game sadly tells you how slow the Amiga market was to keep up with the PC in terms of processors/hard drives/memory etc.

But hey, I loved it back in the day, probably got more hooked on F1 by it as well. F1 from Domark felt like a very good arcade racer, somewhere between F1GP and something like Lotus 2.
