Problem saving/loading games
Basically, I bought a 4GB CF loaded with Amiga games off e-bay and it works brilliantly (spent days just trying different games out and im pretty sure it'll take AGES to check them all out). Anyway, my question is about how do you save games which offer a save-game function?
My example would be Cannon Fodder... After a mission, you click on 'save' at the top and then press 'save' again and give the file a name. Now, within the game, that save file still exists and so long as you dont switch off the Amiga, you can always go back to it. But, if you restart the Amiga and re-load the game, the save file is gone I thought you saved Amiga games (which offer the function) via blank, formatted floppies, but it never says insert a blank floppy to format and save the progress? As far as I understand after a 2min search (http://bit.ly/IfYQoJ), I think WHDLoad only writes saves to harddrive when you actually exit the game. (and the game still thinks it saves to floppy)
So if you just reset or turn off the computer it will be lost. It should also be described in the documentation for each whdload game patch. Now go and buy a WHDLoad licence! |

So ive read the games info games on the Whdload website and it simply says...
- Load/Save games to Hard drive (180 seperate saves allowed!) However, like i said above, I can save, but when I restart the game, the load option is missing as if the save was never really saved? |

Did you exit the game, or just reboot or turn off the machine?
Like I said, I think you need to exit whdload for it to be saved to disk. |

Are you saying I should have exited Whdload back to WB without a hardware reset and it should save maybe as an icon within the same folder as the game? |

Yes, use the exit key to return to amiga os. (which key to use is indicated in the whdload text shown when starting the game)
As far as I understand WHDLoad only writes to a 'virtual disk' while in the game, and save games are only stored while exiting whdload. |
