New Game - Dino Run
2 Attachment(s)
Here is a game I've been working on for a few weeks, it's an Amiga version of the Google Chrome Dinosaur Run game.
I have attached and LHA file (just unpack anywhere you like) or an ADF. Works fine on my Amiga 1200 030 but hopefully will run fine on an A500 upwards. The game was an experiment in using sprites (never used them before) so the Dinosaur is a sprite (or two when ducking) and the bird is a sprite. Wanted to make the clouds sprites too but struggled with colours! No double buffering and simple software scroll to make the ground and cacti move. Saves high score to disk and if you can get far enough (or are bothered enough) then I have a bit of a surprise later in the game. It does end but nothing terribly exciting happens (yet). Anyway, let me know how it works or not and if there are any bugs! Probably won't do too much more on it as need to get cracking on my game for the compo. Have fun! |
Great Havie, will check this out tomorrow ;)

Guess it's coming very soon :great ...looks like the competition is heating up; awesome!!! ;) |
Have got some ideas for the compo - just trying to work out what is doable in the time and whether I should do a port or something new?
And yes, seem to more entries coming all the time - happy times for our old Amigas! |
runs nicely on A500 :)

Nice. I didn't knew that the dino could duck (on chrome). I always jumped over everything !
Here is a direct link to the game, if you like to play it in the chrome browser: chrome://network-error/-106 (p.s. it seem like the link is not URL-able, but you set it as favorite) |

Glad that those that have tried it have found it working and ok! |
Cute nifty little game. :)

It's a really fine game to spend a few minutes on, having fun!

Cheers - not sure my game is worthy of a youtube playthrough but now feeling very proud!

:great

Do you also have the cake and party hat/balloons?
|
supernice... :)

Not a criticism, more of a question from a learner - the clouds stop being drawn as soon as the bounding box hits the left side of the screen. Is this to avoid having to do a clipped blit because it's slow, or just didn't get round to it?
|
Nicely done! Did you release screenshots of this a while ago? I feel like I saw a preview a few months back...
Anyway, I'm sure the colours of the sprites can be easily sorted for you if you'd like. That would also let you do things like scrolling them off the screen without disappearing, and even super-smooth scrolling on AGA machines. The colours used by the sprites can be a little tricky to set up, but I can give you a hand if you'd like. |
Everything looks quite stretched, also:
Havie's version: http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/scre..._runner_02.png And the Chrome version: https://s8.postimg.cc/cxg3xc9it/screenshot_70.png Is it playing in a 1:2 ratio screen perhaps? |

The solution is either to widen the screen further and change the viewport position or to make them sprites. The good thing about sprites is that they are screen independent so not only do they not need erasing but they are not affected by the scrolling. |
