New AKReal released

AmiKit, the high-end distribution of the best classic Amiga software, has been optimized for real Amigas AGA computers too! This conversion is unofficial, maintained by Retrofan. Your feedback is much appreciated. Enjoy!

Edit:

To enter to the http AKReal site (http://real.amiga.sk) you should use a VPN (I am using Urban VPN and I enter from “Argentina”) and then you must enable the options to enter to a “not secure” place. You can also enter with iBrowse (updated) once you have AKReal installed. In any case, these are direct links which you can use to enter with Firefox (for example) in your PC:

- New AKReal 9.2 Full installation

- Upgrade 9.0 > 9.1 : Upgrade

Extra Icon Sets for AKReal 9:

- Mattahan’s Icons Pack

- Ken’s Icons 16 colors

- Free older version: AKReal 9.0

End of edition.

I've been for a while working to make a conversion of the great AmiKit for Pc to run on a Real Amiga just using 16 colors and saving a lot of ram using also some patches.

In this time I've had some help, so I want to thank PeterK for his great icon.library, Bloodwych for his advices, Thomas (always there), Rebel_CD32 for his great palette, skins and others, Cammy, and also some beta testers (mates). And finally Emmanuel Dausse for letting me use his Workbench 2000 with my mods, Thomas Wenzel (Play16), and of course Jan of AmiKit for his great help and support to launch and make this possible.

Thanks,
Retrofan

It's made to use just 16 colors using Rebel_CD32 palette, and patched to save chip mem... but you haven't seen anything so beautiful with that.
But in fact you can use more with it:

So, if you use 256 colors they will look better than ever.

You can use it under emulation with just 16mb, but at least an ACA or 030 is recommended for real. I've tried it with my ACA 1230/56/Fast ATA/IndiMKII or another A1200 with just an ACA 1231/42. I've also tried this with a BPPC and it was flying around me... :p

Anyway, this will be the SUPPORT THREAD: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=67562

And thanks for your answers.

Excellent, I've always wanted the amigaos equivalent of a bodykit on a vauxhall corsa to spread to real hardware.

@ Retrofan

NovaCoder 28 January 2013 10:53

Well done Retrofan :)

Retrofan 28 January 2013 12:36

Thanks mates, now you've got to try it, at least (to start) with WinUAE.

No, sorry. It needs a little more ram to run. With just 8mb and 2 of chip it boots , but almost out of free mem. 16 is recommended. You can try under emulation perhaps using 8 colors, but I don't recommend that. I haven't tried this with ECS but to start you should disable the booting picture on the s-s.

AmigaFriend 28 January 2013 12:46

Great stuff Retrofan! :great Thank you for all your work. :)

fitzsteve 28 January 2013 13:41

Tested and working on my A1200 with ACA1232/33 Runs very well indeed :)

Tested on my A1200T with Blizzard PPC 060 66mhz, Runs super fast :D

Of course I needed to add the 060 Libs, that's all :cool

Well done mate on a great conversion :great

Retrofan 28 January 2013 13:58

Thanks a lot mate. So you are the first user (after me, lol) to use it ;)

Don't forget to add all the suggested (MUI key -I see you don't have it-, kickstarts and so).

BTW videos are welcomed with different hardwares (on the support thread though) :D, just for others to watch how it can run with their systems.

I did start to make a Video testing on my A1200T but messed up some settings as I didn't know what I was doing lol

I'll make one some time once I find my way around as I've not used Amikit before for any length of time.

I already added everything needed ;)

Turran 28 January 2013 14:57

I started testing it yesterday, but there was so many files to copy that I had to go to bed while it worked away. Will check it when I get home =)

fitzsteve 29 January 2013 13:54

Short Video running on my A1200 with BPPC 060 / 66mhz, no PPC used at all only the 68k however since filming I have installed WarpOS & WarpDT :D

Retrofan 29 January 2013 14:09

Nice one. But it will look better the WB2000 bar when you will install the MUI key (like IBrowse). Also amidock is better out of the WB Startup (OS3.9 puts it there). You can leave it in the "Disabled" drawer there, but of course you can use it too.

Also open and change a drawer (AmiKit for example) to show just names instead of icons, create a new drawer and delete it using the x icon on the right of the bar of the drawer. Later try to send it to the bin with the icon beside... you'll see what it does :p
