Thanks. Tried disabling the PiStorm32 and booting from 020 but SCSIMounter fails in the same way! It just hangs scanning the SCSI bus...

...I always considered AsimCDFS an easy way of setting up CD filesystem but in this instance and this machine it can't find the AsimCDFS_Buffer even when I amend the UserStartup to tell it where it is! SquirrelSCSI doesn't show up on the Asim Device list and when I type it in manually it hangs like the SCSIMounter does in the Squirrel folder.

I can't imagine the PiStorm32 itself causes so many of these problems.

Is that how you've got it working previously? Others have said IDEFix97 is a red herring!

I found when using CDROM, I could never get it to work with IDEFIX97. It would hang no matter what I tried. Had to remove it from startup and then everything worked.

My betting is on 3.2.2 ROMs (47.111).

Will do my best to test out this week. Just got side tracked with my A4KD machine again…
They're 3.2.1 roms.

Nope those or 3.0 roms to hand here! Obviously CaffeineOS uses 3.9 roms on SD card and same issues.

Yes, read that. I'm talking about past experience with 3.1.
Thought 3.2 used its own thing, so doesnt require IDEFix.

Why not just do a fresh install of 3.0 with 3.0 roms. Confirm it works on that with PS32 (comment out initramfs line and it will use onboard rom). This way it will confirm if its hardware or rom / software problem.

Personally, dont see the appeal of CaffeineOS. Much rather build my own system image up, that we you know exactly whats in it.

I've let Michal know there might be an incompatibility with the Surf Squirrel. It's strange people have had more success with the original Suirrel unit!

So the original can keep up with 600 Kilobytes/sec 4x speed cd drives and not much faster?

@Boing-Ball

I wanted to thank you for all your help here. My Squirrel SCSI worked first time (with ASIMCDFS) on the Pistorm32! Awesome result!

So it's official, the original Squirrel is compatible but the Surf Squirrel isn't compatible with the PiStorm32 currently!
