This is a crossdev 'chipmusic' tracker (running on Windows) to create music for Amiga demos, intros and games. All instruments are precalced on song init, hence the name 'PreTracker'.
Used by Abyss in 'Coda', 'Preschool', 'Tinyus', 'Tiny Bobble', 'Wrong Way Driver' and 'Tiny Galaga'.

New in Version 1.5
-Gamedev support (up to 31 Sub Songs, up to 31 Sound Fx)
- Loop crossfade
- Easier loop setup (press the gear icon)
- New ASM / C replayer with support for subsongs/sfx, global volume.
- Many editor bugfixes
- New demo songs included

Is there a Delitracker Player for this PreTracker format?
It would be handy not only inside the Amiga, but also for Windows players like XMPlay supporting 3rd party Amiga Delitracker Players (after you install XMP delix add-on, "XMPlay\Plugins\xmp-delix.dat" is a PKZip archive where you can add inside other Amiga 68K deliplayers)...
Please, code an Amiga 68k deliplayer for this format

Would an editor for classic Amiga be technically possible or is there some heavy processing happening ?

Slightly related and completely clueless question : could Hoffman's work on the Ceconnoid mixing routines be transferred to some extent ? I wonder if that would open the door to high quality replay routines for more channels ?

Although, if I understood properly, he must have developed those to mix SFX with the music.

Would be possible but instrument editing, which is instant on Pc, could take many seconds, especially if you mix instruments dependingly on each other.

Also the prePlay would slow down things. In difference to any Amiga tracker I know, Pretracker pre-plays the complete song up to the point you want to start (while composing). So you hear lingering notes from position 115 when you start playing at pattern 116 but this means to pre play several minutes.. to slow on A500 tomfeel instant..

Another hard to port feature would be stream export. This uses a brute force compression scheme to compress 500kb of stream data to 10kb, and would take hours on A500. It already takes a few seconds on PC..

Just to clarify, HippoPlayer added PreTracker v1.5 support (a year ago).

We need a Delitracker II (deliplayer) plugin, this way it can be played with XMplay (using Delix, its .dat file is just a ZIP where you can add deliplayers or eagleplayers) under Windows too...


(XMPlay with Delix plugin playing Amiga mods in any format supported by Delitracker II or EaglePlayer)
