I sent the processed png of level2 (for tiling and reduction) to tsak yesterday but Magnus has almost all material using my palette so it might happen that demos come out with my assets first then once all tsak assets are ready it will switch to those.

[EDIT]
I had to remove the video due to the fact Magnus did not give me the ok to spread it yet (want to have better graphics), more to see soon though

This has come on very nicely. An option for music on/off would be great; personally I really appreciate it even when I don't use it very often for some games. Looking forward to this one.

IRN was quick to pickup the news and the new video, so it's now officially out anyhow

It's a WIP of level 1, several gfx are still missing, enemy patterns and other stuff also need fixing but it's definitely in a nice shape already.

The standard and sheer number of arcade ports hitting the AMIGA now is incredible, better late than never I always say.

Great work on this guys

Superb work. Btw, the game is too demanding for 32 colors i guess ?

There are quite many enemies on screen, a ton of projectiles, two independent tileset layers sandwiched in-between (see all those tanks moving under the trees and buildings f.e.?), plus it is an 8-way scroller. And still the game manages to run 50fps on a vanilla a500.

So yes. 16 colors are obligatory. Imho even so it's still quite a miracle the game performs like that. Others would have gone with dual playfield or do other massive cuts to get similar results.

I never asked Magnus, but as far as you know does he use the Battle Squadron way of updating enemies every two frames instead of one?

I think it's supposed to be 50fps, so probably doesn't use Battle Squadron's method.

this looks really good! hope you can improve on the music though as it sounds real bad like out of tune

Thanks, yeah there's a lot to fix. In regards to the gfx there's still plenty assets to convert or do some extra polishing. Various animations also need to be revisited.

In regards to the music I'll also check to do a pass and see what we're dealing with, possibly try and fix any issues with it. Far as I've heard it seems quite close to the arcade so far. I might also suggest to Simone and Magnus if we can port the X68000 tracks as these sound quite better and feel more advanced.

Lastly the sfx need a good revisiting as well. I'd like to see if we can include the original arcade sfx for a start. While they are quite '8-bit-ish' this will help to make the port feel even more on par with the arcade. At the moment sfx implementation is very much lacking (except for the occasional explosion), so this part will also have to be fixed.

Me and magnus like the arcade music feel - it can be fixed, plus i already provide him the sound effects extracted from other Toaplan games (was unable to get the test mode running in MAME from Flying Shark so i grabbed sounds from mostly Outzone)

i think it sounds out of tune because the chords have no depth to them or something like they are mising notes also the tunes are much slower use this as reference for level one
