Using CD32 pad on A1200 running CD32 games issue
Hi all, im new to the forum and just have a quick question.
Im having an issue getting my CD32 pad working properly with WHDLoad CD32 games. From Google searches I am under the impression that the CD32 pad should work with all buttons fully functional with a CD32 game, However im getting only 1 or occasionally 2 functional buttons on the games i have tried. Currently i have a mouse in port 1 and the pad in port 2. Is there anything additional i need to do to get this working? |

Have you got the correctly libraries installed?
Dont you need the lowlevel.library? Trying to remember, as I have an A1200 too with CD32 setup and all buttons work like it is a CD32. |

Thanks for the response, im new to this stuff and im still finding my feet so please excuse any stupidity on my part
I have upgraded my Roms from 3.0 to 3.1 and as far as i am aware im running WB3.1 aswell (CFHDD came preloaded wth WHDLoad from eBay), from what i have read the library should already be there, However ill check when i get home as it sounds as if its the likely reason why im have problems. Is this the file in question? http://amigadev.elowar.com/read/ADCD.../node0624.html |

I had to add it in all my installs (WB2 up to OS3.9)
I had to add it to get CD32 Pad support in ADoom I've attached it, you need to extract it from the Zip file, it goes in sys:libs/ Last edited by fitzsteve; 29 May 2024 at 14:58. |

Think I added mine to my rom, to save having it in the libs folder. |

Thanks for the response guys, i did check yesterday evening and there is a lowlevel.library file present in the lib directory. I assume its the wrong version or its isn't working so ill try the one attached.
Also gives me an excuse to buy the PCMCIA transfer kit |

What games?
Some require you to set a tooltype for CD32 pad |

I have tried a few CD32 games that i know from memory fully utilised most of the buttons such as Jungle Strike, Jetstrike and Fireforce.
Thanks for the tip on the tooltypes, have you got any examples i can try? |

Zool CD32 Set CUSTOM4=1 to enable CD³² joypad controls
Not sure if those games you listen have CD32 pad support under WHDload check the docs -some are pached for joysticks :-( iirc junglestrike CD32 running with just assigns not whdload works with CD32 pad - quite a few CD32 games will run like this Try cannonfodder CD32 WHDload or Chaos Engine CD32 WHDload this should work Some games that never used more than one button are now patched to make use of extra buttons under WHDload witch is great Lowlevel.library is standard with 3.1wb? lowlevel.library and nonvolatile.library are part of the 3.1 Kickstart.

I think the 3.1 kickstart for the A1200 is newer than the 3.1 kickstart in the cd32.
The A1200's with 3.1 kickstart version 40.68 shipped after the CD32? http://wiki.classicamiga.com/Kicksta...ckstart_3.1.3F |

Well my PCMCIA transfer kit arrived from Amigakit (works great!) and I have copied in the lowlevel.lib file attached above, I tested the games I tried before with the same results...
However I did try a few other games such as Zool (mentioned above), Guardian and Gunship 2000 and they all work fully with the CD32 pad. So as Boo Boo mentioned it seems that some games are patched for joysticks so that's why I was having no luck! Thanks for the help everyone, fantastic support for a newbie looking to learn, great forum. |

Some misleading info by me as pointed out in another thread Jungle Strike CD32 WHDload should work with CD32 pad
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=67368 And looks like Abaddon is going to add CD32 pad support to Desert Strike Ive just looked through the following disks and they all contain LowLevel library I take it AmigaOS3.1 from amigakit does include the LowLevel library? Am I the only one who doesn't like using the official CD32 pad?
I keep trying to hold it upside down which doesn't help If feels horrible to me, the best controller to use IMHO is a PS2 wireless controller, even the analogue sticks work (very handy for Stunt Car Racer!). Unfortunately my original PS adapter died (???) and my new one from Kipper doesn't work with any of the wireless controllers I've tried (works perfectly for wired controllers though?). Maybe it's my Amiga that's playing up and not the adapters? I'll check to see if I'm missing lowlevel.library and nonvolatile.library This Logitech controller is more like it and feels awesome to use Last edited by NovaCoder; 10 October 2013 at 00:34. |
