WB 1.3 pointer in Workbench 2.1
Does anyone know how to or have a Workbench 1.3 style pointer for 2.1?
I've noticed that the old style pointer is part of the 2.0 ROM, but Workbench 2.1 replaces it with the new style. Anyway to revert it back? Or has someone got an old style pointer prefs? Thanks! |

I think you ought to be able to choose not to use hi-res pointer - it's a separate sprite and can be a different resolution to the screen.
Ed: and you should be able to edit your own graphic too. I used to have a dog-face pointer with my A500Plus, the nose was the hot-point. ^ pointer.ilbm is the file, iirc. Further ed: but I'm fairly sure you know these things... |

You could just delete pointer.prefs -and use System-Configuration for the pointer but its probably better to try and convert the pointer to Pointer.Prefs I would like to have that Zz loadind bubble on my settup.

As standard, there is no pointer prefs or file until you save one using the prefs editor.
So I'm looking for a way to return to the original old school ROM pointer and the busy bubble (thanks for reminding me boo boo), or if not possible someone to provide a pointer prefs file with the correct images. Want to get this looking as authentic as possible. When you enter the boot menu on a 2.0 ROM, the old pointer is there. It's only when you boot into Workbench does it change to the modern style. |

Voilá. Run Prefs/Pointer and choose "Open" from the menu, then select one of the files. The hires file is for high resolution RTG screens, i.e. twice in size.

Thanks Thomas.
I can't get these files to load in WB 2.1, it gives an error about processing the IFF, but they work fine in 3.x. I probably just have to resize it or something. At least I have the image to work with now. |

Up to WB 2.1 there was no configurable busy pointer. Therefore it should work what Boo Boo suggested: delete pointer.prefs resp. pointer.ilbm and copy devs/system-configuration from a WB 1.3 disk. You won't get the Zz bubble anyway.
