Nope, and it's not a controller. (Pads etc aren't allowed - only REAL hardware).

Looking at the shape / curve in the photo it looks like a reset / eject button on a CD based console?

Fourth or Fifth generation.

It's NOT PC Engine, 3DO, FM Marty Towns, CD-I, Neo Geo, Atari Jaguar.

I thought that it might be a 3rd party remake of the Sega Saturn, but it's not a JVC Saturn.

I am stumped

It's nothing too obscure and it's not a 3rd party console - it was made by a 'proper' manufacturer. 4th generation.
