Which famous games are Amiga originals?

Which famous game were first written for the Amiga and then ported to other systems?

Let me start with Lemmings, a world-famous game originally written for the Amiga by DMA Design.

Food for thought, Amiga original games with at least one conversion as listed in HOL:
http://hol.abime.net/hol_search.php?...isoriginal=yes

Then it all depends on your definition of famous.
For instance, if you consider legacy and influence on later games, I guess you could add Defender of the Crown and Populous for instance.

Not sure I'd call these famous. Obviously we're all familiar with them, but the average person wouldn't be.

Dunno... Maybe you're right about Shadow of the beast, but I remember that Defender and Settlers were massivelly popular back then
Even my friends, that are not in strategies at all, had them, because they liked graphics so much.
Defender was the first thing you show to some friend that had some cga, ega PC, and watch his reaction.

We can maybe add Ruff n tumble to the list, though it was never ported to some other machine.

Beast 2 Amiga version is probably the most unplayable, console versions are much more playable : (

I was going to say Gods but might of been Atari ST

Apparently Lemmings sold 15 million copies in the end ( all formats) which probably makes it the biggest, unless worms did even better.

I would, they have been ported to various formats and sold across all continents, they were famous at some point, just because the average Nintendo Switch owner wont know what they are doesn't mean they werent famous at some point.

I think a certain criteria of being ported to at least 2-3 other formats with at least one of those being a console format, whilst being sold in at least 2 continents then they should make the list imo.

I thought Zool was meant to be the Amiga's answer to Mario or Sonic. I was pissed when it was converted to other platforms.

Flashback is confusing, it was originally written for the Sega Mega Drive, but released on Amiga first.
So in terms of release, it’s an Amiga Original, but in reality, not.

yes indeed, hard to tell wether it is amiga or atari. i had a look over at hol, trying to find out about the rest of the games coded by thomas häuser and blue byte as the developer. interresting to see, that none of the games (battle isle, historyline, tom & the ghost) seem to be amiga originals, or the status is yet unknown.

in the end, it is neither of them and twinworld originated from the amstrad/schneider or even zx (which both are really nice, like them)

The Settlers made it up to part 7 and was very popular in Germany, until Ubi had the great idea to implement an always-online drm in Settlers 7 and destroy the whole franchise.
