fs-uae-arcade and CD32 games
Hi there Frode,
I've been using fs-uae-arcade this week-end on my linux/XBMC htpc to play those magic games while sitting on the couch. And I must say a big "THANK YOU" ! It's a wonderful piece of software. We couldn't dream better and you made it ! I think, I found a little bug (that happens on my linux pc aswell) when I try to launch a CD32 games from fs-uae-arcade, all I get is the "insert workbench floppy disk" kickstart animation. It works fine when I launch them from fs-uae-launcher. Here's my log file : http://pastebin.com/TXq6KkFr Cheers Browny |

Hi, it works here, but I'm sure there's something interesting in the logs. Unfortunately, I need another log (/home/badr/Documents/FS-UAE/Cache/Logs/fs-uae.log.txt).
(Oh, and I noticed the database_* leaks you filtered out -- which occured when starting FS-UAE from FS-UAE Arcade. I've fixed those for the next build). |

Good Morning, Frode
Thank you for your reply. Here is the log : http://pastebin.com/6rHM3xRD I took the liberty to filter out again my user name and email address. Have a nice day Browny [EDIT] It doesn't seem to load the "CD32 Extended-ROM r40.60 (1993)(Commodore)(CD32).rom" file... [EDIT 2] I forgot to mention, I was using version 2.3.17dev, I just remotely upgraded to 2.3.99beta2 (thank you SSH ) - I'll be testing it this evening and report ASAP. Hello,
Still the same, even with fs-uae 2.3.99beta2 (Silly me : actually I was using v2.3.99b2 on the HTPC, I upgraded my desktop...) : I only get the Insert Workbench disk animation even after the upgrade. While in the same program, if I press left or right hat (on the xbox 360 digital pad, not the analog stock) to navigate through the games, the covers start scrolling crazy non stop : I have to touch the left analog stick to stop it from "spinning" the list. I can only navigate through games with the left analog stick or with the keyboard (no problem in fs-uae itself - i can use d-pad, the problem occurs only in fs-uae-arcade). I have now fixed the missing-ext-rom-when-using-arcade problem.
I've also reproduced the problem controlling FS-UAE Arcade with joystick hats and will move onto fixing that now (EDIT: ...aaaand fixed) |

Does this also work using fs-uae, I've been trying but CD32 games don't seem to run with the bare emulator getting the config file presented... all I get is the CD32 "insert bootable media" screen.

@deejay please post fs-uae.log.txt (or check yourself for clues).

Would love to, but for some reason logs are only written when I launch the CD32 game from launcher. If I run it by command line "fs-uae.exe \path\to\config-file" it won't dump anything (tried with both beta 2 and beta 3)

Unless you have done something to avoid it, the log file should be stored in (My) Documents/FS-UAE/Cache/Logs

One problem is probably then that since you have used a portable installation - which is really handled by the launcher, not by FS-UAE itself - then the proper kickstarts are not found when you start the game (since FS-UAE looks in Documents/FS-UAE/Kickstarts and not in the portable dir).
The second problem is that you are not loading any CD image... |

Frode, you're the best!
So I removed the portable.ini and had to re-import all the kickstarts - as obviously the MyDocs Dir wouldn't have them yet. Then, I kept the config files in the local "portable tree", and moved all the game images to the mydocs tree. This way I didn't have to change the config files which will look for the files in the mydocs tree by default. Yay, thanks again! |
