HSTWB & MapROM

Hi All,

I'm admittedly a novice with Amiga's so would appreciate some help with this.

I recently acquired a stock A1200 with 3.0 ROMs and have bought a CF adapter, 16gb CF Card and an ACA1233n.

I do not yet have the card installed with any workbench.

I would like to use HSTWB installer to create a 3.1.4 install with WHDLoad and BetterWB/HSTWb packages, but when I create the image and put it on the CF, it says 'installer failed - you require at least 3.1 kickstart ROMs'.

Can I use my MapROM in this instance to make HSTWB installer work, and how do I go about it? Do I need to install stock 3.1 myself first?

Did you prepare the image on a PC/Mac/Linux using an emulator to start and run the image first to install Amiga OS, Kickstart roms for WHDLoad and packages on the image before writing it to your CF card?

If no, then maprom is currently not supported. You need Kickstart 3.1 roms to run HstWB Installer installation process on your Amiga.

I would recommend to run the installation process using an emulator with Kickstart 3.1 or 3.1.4 rom first, then write it to your Amiga. When using Amiga OS 3.1.4, it will softkick/maprom to 3.1.4 when using Kickstart 3.1 rom, but I don't know if it also does this with Kickstart 3.0 rom.
