I am getting a new SONY laptop with a stick pointer, can the stick pointer be configured as a joystick in WINUAE

What do you mean by "stick pointer", is this like an Icontroller?

Probably not because it emulates mouse in hardware. You get periodic mouse movement signals that can't be reliably converted to joystick movement.
