Problem burning bootable CDTV discs
Hi,
I've been having a tough time creating a bootable CDTV disc. I followed the guide here: http://acdldp.emuunlim.com/bootablecdr.shtml I've used both MakeCD as suggested in the above tutorial and Commodore's own ISOCD program from the CD32 Devkit to create a CD-ROM image. I've tried burning the image with Nero and Clone CD, but to no avail. Whenever I insert the burned CD-R into my CDTV the spinning CDTV logo disappears and is replaced with a black screen showing a white CDTV logo. Just like when I insert a regular CDTV title. Only thing is, it just hangs on this logo and refuses to boot. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I include the CDTV.TM file every time, but whenever the image is burned, the CDTV.TM file is not present. I've tried creating a simple boot disk with just a simple startup-sequence that has just one line (echo "Hello World!"). Fearing I might be forgetting some files I also created an image that basically contains a dump of my bootable Workbench 1.3.2 diskette. That won't boot either and just hangs at the CDTV logo. I suspect I'm not using the correct settings in Nero. I've tried burning as a raw file. I've tried renaming the raw file to ISO and then burning. Unfortunately I don't have access to WinonCD as mentioned in the tutorial, but surely it must be possible to burn these images with Nero? Does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone created custom bootable CDs for the CDTV here that work? I wasted a good number of CD-Rs and hours today and I'm a bit tired at the moment. The reason I want to create my own CDTV CDs is so that I can burn some HD installable games to CD and play them on my CDTV. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, btw. Wasn't sure where to post it. Thanks in advance for any of your help! |

The CDTV is trying to read the burned CD to no avail.
CDTVs are a bitch on the "reading written CDs" matter. Use only original titles with it! |

Are you using good quality blanks, and what speed are you trying to burn at? If you are using high-speed burning, try a slow speed.
Also, there are other burning programs than Nero. Last edited by meega; 12 January 2009 at 03:00. |

add RMTM to your disc image and to the startup sequence.
RMTM = remove trademark Your discs are actually working they arent hanging at the CDTV logo they just haven't removed the logo because of the missing RMTM command. edit: If your discs weren't working you would just get the cdtv home screen with red highlights so you are burning them correctly you just need to do the above. You should do first tests using emulation and cd images to save cd-r's
(CDTV reads CD-R's just fine, CD-RW's won't work) |

Thanks T_hairy_bootson! That was it! I included the RMTM file and called it from the startup-sequence and I got my test Workbench to load
Everyone thanks for replying! |

Good stuff, I made many a coaster before I found out about that.
This was before winuae had cdtv emulation and my images would work fine on that so it was really puzzling. |
