It's odd to think that there are requests (me too) to simulate an effect we've all (possibly) hated for years...
...at least if Toni does implement this 'feature' I'll have fewer bruises. It's been quite frustrating; banging my head on the desk & poking myself in the eyes on a regular basis.

Does this mean retro-computing is just a form of masochism..?

well could be

also to hold huge number of GB - paying for hard disks to store games you never had back then (erm... never said that) and will never get the chance to play now

As a coding guy, having nothing that resembles interlace can be frustrating, because you can't see how some things behave. And since I use a video to vga converter which also de-interlaces everything, I can't even use my real Amiga to see how some things behave. Potentially quite frustrating. For normal work not having to deal with the interlace flickering is great, however, and I wish I was like that 10-15 years ago!

I won't do anything interlace-related until interlace internally works. (and this is also quite pointless feature)

IMHO any feature which increases an emulation's authenticity is not a useless feature. Further more, in the Amiga's case, there is actually some animation software (can't remember the name) which uses interlace to play back animations smoother by only drawing half frames. Without interlace, this type of software will not function properly! Furthermore, when writing programs which take advantage of interlace (new demos perhaps?), it's impossible to test the software under WinUae.

Just a viewpoint from someone who likes authentic emulator behavior

Emulating such a "feature" isn't as pointless as it looks. Someone developing with winuae (and using interlace screens, of course) might wish to know if his program flickers a lot (or not) on real hardware. Carefully chosen colors will make it flicker less, but you can't check what you can't see...

So it would be semi-pointless to emulate this flickering thingy

Could WinUAE also emulate the high-pitched wining noise that my Commodore 1084S monitor sometimes used to make whilst displaying interlaced modes?

A "thump monitor" option would also be good!

So should there be a "Headache" option or not?
