CD32 Audio CD has better sound quality than a standard CD player ?

I've seen some thoughts on the web about the CD Audio quality and some say that it's better than on a standard CD player (sound is more "punchy")

I'm quite agree with this but i don't know if it's a myth or not, an audio hallucination, or too much passion for this console....

Is the DAC specific or has a particularity to make me think it deliver a better sound than a standard audio cd player ?

Are you agree with the idea that the sound is better from a CD32 than with a standard cd player ?

Define 'standard cd player' - CD32 was probably better than CDTV in terms of the audio quality.

Like a separate components Hifi system or a portable CD player

Ok so no really hardware difference, just perhaps a difference in the auditory perception, but no DSP like a compressor or this sort of things ?

No. The CD32's Sanyo LC73588M is an unremarkable audio DAC for the CDDA and the analog mixing circuit that mixes the now analog CD audio with Paula also unremarkable

As for the SCPH-1001, that is not a myth. It used a very good dac and the whole audio part was low-noise. Now of course, every high-end cd player of the time did the same, they just cost more, which is why the SCPH-1001 became popular as a cd player.

In the end, it does not matter much. Once your age reached 30+, you won't be able to hear the difference between a good and not-so-good cd player anymore anyway. And since the audio is digital, the difference is always very subtile, so even if you could hear it...
