On paper it reads like one of the worst accelerator card for A1200. Reads like only one step up from a RAM card.
Don't pay 1230 prices. If you can get it for about £30-50 it could be good value. |

But it is just my opinion and I don't own one. They might be secretly great performers and I wouldn't know. But I doubt it.

I use to have one. It is a better-than-memory-only card and it is good for WHDLoad, since no MMU problems (the unit does not have one, nor provision to add one).
With 4Mb it is PCMCIA friendly. No way to add more RAM to it. You can use a PCMCIA 4Mb SRAM, but they are expensive and dog-slow on A1200. Anyway, disabling the PRELOAD option in WHDLoad game icons (just on the ones with requests more than 2Mb FAST RAM) will make this little accelerator a good buy. If you can buy it cheap, go for it. |

It's a good accelerator (about 4x faster than stock A1200), for details and comparisons read here:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=33243 What I don't like is that, with Apollo 1220 (Vs. Blizzard 1220/4 and TRA 1200), you can't close the trapdoor. |

Huh? I had mine with the trapdoor shut with no problems at all.

I'm sure about this, but different versions exist (PLCC socketed or PGA soldered FPU included). The one I owned had the PLCC FPU socket that avoided to close the trapdoor.
Look here and you can see what I mean: http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showha...cgi?HARDID=105 |

That nasty capped battery was the culprit for a big boom inside my A1200 Amiga. If you have it, replace it or sack it out for good.
