Would a 040/060 accelerator affect whdload's compatibillity?

I know that whdload is designed to run OK on newer cpu's , but would it matter if I used a 040 or 060 over my 030 accel? I would like the extra WB speed a 040/060 offers, but I certainly would not like to break whdload behaviour...

I guess 030 is a bit more compatible, but I've managed to get everything I want to play to run on my 060 box.. You just need to find the correct parameters for whdload.

I personally run them from a very slim CLI environment, as the games crash after a few minutes if I start them from the wb. (lots of patches + cgx, not 060 related)

hhmmmmm, in that case I'll stick with my "new waiting to arrive with post" 40Mhz 030 card... just got it because it supports up to 32MB fastmem (current max is 8MB)

I just received this reply from WHDLOAD author:

> 68030/MMU/68882 @ 28 mhz / 8MB Fastmem (max) I am thinking of

in general all should work with a 040/060 too, but sometimes there
are games which are not running total smooth on faster machines. today
most installs are tested on 68060 so there should be really less of
them.

Bye Bert

I'll better stick with my 030 for the moment.... until I get a REASONABLE price for a 060 borad... They cost A LOT!

Once I had a problem when I transferred an old WHDLoad keyfile from an A1200 with 030/50 to an A4000 with 060/50. WHDLoad worked perfectly with the 030 but just hung up with a black screen on the 060.

Then I was warned that the newer (16.x) WHDLoad releases tend to do this with keyfiles which are... erm... from questionable sources.

So I hastily registered WHDLoad properly and now it works like a charm on my A4000/060 as well ;-)

You may have to add the NoCache tooltype to the WHDLoad-ed game's icon to compensate the extra speed of the 060; certain games may play a bit jerky without it.

I experienced slowdowns on some a500 games like swos on a 040/PPC system whereas those never happen on a 030.

Yes, keyfiles which have been spread on the internet or on game compilation CDs are blacklisted in future versions. The easiest way around this (as you have done!) is to register, and this also ensures many more patches will be released in the future!

NOAUTOVEC can also help a lot on higher CPU's where interrupts from other sources (network cards etc) can be triggered.

I have found noumerous games not to run on my setup giving all mem errors.... why so? Is it because of the installs? I got the same from various sources, but still I get the same errors... some exaples are UFO Enemy Unknown, Odyssey...

It is an A1200 with a M-TEC 68030/MMU/68882 @ 28Mhz with a 8MB simm (the max it can support) You can see the rest on my sig... Although I am waiting for a Apollo 1230 Turbo Mk3 / Winner 1230 accelerator, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT and I will add to that a 16MB simm and later if I find one, 32MB...
