1200 FDD from Amigakit

*EDIT* - Happy ending to this...no need for me to complain...Amigakit after-sales service is the best!

Oh, and my DF1 (once an external FDD now mounted inside case) only works if this Amigakit drive is disconnected...what a PITA!

Rev 10.3 man.

Please advise if this means anything.

It loaded all the problem game disks fine with it's internal drive when it was "consolised"...but that drive is now in my "portable" A600 comp-in-keyboard-almost-standard-machine.

This is about the Ready-signal and the lack of in your new drive mechanism.

You can check out Aminet hard/hacks for some ready signal-generators.

The mechanisms not working together.. What kind of cable are you using for the new drive?

http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/A1200FDfix

That's one package that should have the required circuit in it.

.. strange habit of always writing hard/hack .. silly aminet for changing the directory structure .. :-)

Thanks for the link man, I'll check it out

I'm just not very happy with Amigakit for not mentioning this problem in the product details so I'd know before I bought the drive

Well, about a week ago I had a few under my belt and decided to give Matt from Amigakit a call.

Turns out the drive was stuffed. No ready signal is normal, that's ok, but it was doing other weird things and just really wasn't working. After one day of use it wouldn't read any disks at all and just showed up in WB as DF0:???? regardless of whether a disk was in it or not.

He sent me a replacement which arrived today and works brilliantly

Top marks Matt/Amigakit, I'm wrapped with such excellent customer service!
