The Story of Ocean Software: "The Biggest Games Company in the World"

Quote:
I was just trawling the forums looking for the latest news and came across a new video that is sure to appeal to a vast majority of our readers. This is a brand new documentary by Kim Justice on the entire history of Ocean Software, from start to finish. As Kim says : The early days with Imagine, the glorious success that Robocop bought, plus Batman to Daley Thompson, Cobra to Frankie, Jurassic Park to the Addams Family...and finally to the end -

http://www.indieretronews.com/2016/0...e-biggest.html

The reason I'm making a separate post for this is, I want to know what your memories of Ocean are. What games do you remember the most, what was YOUR favourite?

What accent is this from the guy talking on the video? For me it's incredibly annoying and hard to understand!

Somewhere in the UK, but it's an unusual one because she's transgender and has a bit of a Jonathan Ross style lisp.

It's only apparent with certain words so you can be watching a while without noticing any sort of lisp. I'd guess she's from the London region, though the accent isn't particularly distinctive as far as I can tell.

Yes, she came out on camera for her YouTube channel in the last year or two. For those videos she wore a wig, make-up and a dress, but usually - for the gaming related stuff for instance - she appears as a man.

She can film standing on her head, naked in a bath tub of baked beans for all I care. I just appreciate the subject matter and the passion and research that she injects into her work. She's a top notch YouTuber (and fellow Amigan) I've been following for years.

On the Spectrum they were genuinely among the best - Chase HQ, Head Over Heels, Movie, Match Day, Rainbow Islands, Renegade, Op Wolf, Rastan etc. On the Amiga they found their stock multi-level-film-license game dated and far less arcade conversions on offer, and their Amiga range wasn't as great (but still - Rainbow Islands, Wizkid, Addams Family, Robocop 3, F29 Retailator, New Zealand Story, Pang, Puzznic.....)

Robocop 2 and Operation Thunderbolt on the ZX Spectrum spring to mind... though I found Robocop 2 to be rather tough, but I did eventually complete the game.

I had a whole lot of Ocean games back in the 64 days because I loved the Ocean Loader music so much. Robocop was a crappy game though, but the music was great.
