final command
Now I know Final Command by Ubisoft isn't a rare game but the two versions I've got which were cracked by Paradox and Horizon refuse to load in WinUAE. Is there another one I could try?

Maybe there is, but would you also be satisfied with a working configuration?
I've just tested the Horizon version, and yes, it needs some special treatment. There are graphics errors with ECS Agnus, therefore it requires old chipset (OCS). Works great. Tell me if you encounter some more problems. Tested with WinUAE 0.8.22 R9. [edit] Hmm. Is the Horizon version properly cracked? Even though I've never played this game before, I managed to identify myself as a captain and activate the teletransporter. However, I'm always warped to open space because I miss the correct code for the transporter. When I try to open the safe with the lasers on the leftmost corner, I get a device with four levers, waiting for me to enter a combination into, uttering a humming electronical sound when one of the levers is pulled. Do those require a manual, or is/are the code(s) given to you later on in the game? Last edited by andreas; 19 September 2003 at 20:27. |

It still won't work even in R9 with OCS there must be something else wrong with the configuration I'm using. Perhaps you could put your configuration in the zone if that's not an improper use of it. I downloaded my version of the game from planetemu.
As far as the game goes I thought it had loads of atmosphere something which most games lack these days. I got quite far in the Atari ST version until I used the telepathic headset to get some teletransporter coordinates from an alien which beamed me straight into space. With some Ubisoft games eg Iron Lord the ST version came out first and the Amiga version had some gameplay improvements, I was hoping that this would also be true of Final Command so that I could complete it. Although I've still got no idea how you open that safe. |

Thanks for your help the game works fine now, although I'm still stuck on it. I've got the manual but there's no hint as to how to open the safe. I guess some games just aren't meant to be completed. The only improvement over the ST version is clearer text.

But is there at least a way to successfully enter the teletransporter after snatching the access card from the dead technician in the adjoining room?!?!
BTW: could you please scan in the manual if possible? It seems awfully rare. Thanks! |

Entering the teletransporter is easy enough all you need is the access card. The only thing I can think of is that you haven't turned on the power for the transporter. On the right of the screen is a large machine you need pull the lever on it down to turn on the power.
Or maybe you mean you don't have the right coordinates. To get the coordinates for the Junar 2 base you need to go back into the central control room of the Centaure. The safe is in the bottom left hand corner of the room. Just above it there is a computer screen click three times on this and the base coordinates will be displayed on the giant computer screen. The coordinates are 05021966. As for the manual, unfortunately I don't have the use of a scanner but if one becomes available I'll put it up. |
