Depends on the model. The EZKey-XS does allow for such an option. This unit connects directly to a chip (U7) on the motherboard.

Other keyboard adaptor models, which connect via the original keyboard ribbon interface, do not feature reset jumpers (to my knowledge).

The XS model, as Eyetech state, is only suitable for A1200 and A4000 Amigas. The SE will work on A600s. It is a simpler design, however, connecting to the original keyboard slot as opposed to directly to a chip. It lacks the enhanced features of the XS.

An alternative that might suit your needs better is the 'MRHK-2D Multimedia Keyboard Adapter' from Mr Hardware. It is apparently available for many models of Amiga, including A600, and has an impressive array of features. Here is a news article with product information, as the Mr Hardware site does not appear to provide this. http://www.amigaexpo.com/pr9.htm

May need to have it shipped: I am unaware of any UK dealers carrying this product.

37$ for a keyboard adapter is kinda expensive.

yeah that is expensive... I think Elbox sells their pc keyboard adapter for 25 euro ... A bit better price, at least ... They got for 1200 and 600.

The Elbox adaptor does not have the same functionality as the Mr Hardware model though, particularly lacking a reset option. I don't think it recognises simulaneous keypresses either. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

An extra $10 sounds reasonable for the extras, imo.

Just out of interest, lemaru, why an adaptor for the A600? Tower conversion project?

Re u sure it connects to the ribbon slot as if it is for both the a600/a1200 then they have different ribbon cable slots for the keyboards so surely this can't be right!

i think they do however use the same chip (the one the adaptors plug onto) so would the ezkey-xs not work even if the pin-outs are the same for the IC?!?

Yep i is gonna start on a little tower project! that is if i can find a copy of the siamese system to run! had a 68030 board for the 600 for about 4-5years now and never used it so i thought i might as well do something with it! just need the keyboard adaptor and i'll be halfway there

Having never owned an A600, I know not whether its keyboard interface is different to that of the A1200. It is immaterial in this case whether the two interfaces are different, as the EZKey-SE is stated to be suitable for both Amiga models. If it is produced in subtly different editions for the two machines or not, the unit you buy will fit your A600.

The point I make is that it, along with the adaptor manufactured by Elbox, lacks the feature you require, i.e. reset jumper.

Good luck with the tower project, btw.

Well, I didn't notice a difference, I thought they were the same. I Could be wrong though, I didn't put them side by side to maek a comparison!

BLOODY HELL! the elbox one would work out well expensive once you add on shipping to uk!

think i may have to go with the EZKEY-SE as the shipping isn't too OTT!

just means soldering to my board for the reset switch!

tower project now given up on

eyetech no longer stock the adaptor i want so unless i make my own or pay loads for shipping i can't get one

they cant even give a straight answer whether the ezkey-xs will work as i recieved 2 replies from different people! one stating it would and one stating it wouldnt

gutted!

Send a message via ICQ to ElectroBlaster
Just get the a1200 keyboard adaptor from Power Computing! i know is does not have a reset plug but it allows the reset cludge via the keyboard! What i have done is to solder header pins to the a1200 motherboard and then plug the towers reset lead onto it! instant reset switch

I have an EZKey-SE sitting here which isnt a ribbon connect but clips over the KB IF chip. Anyone KNOW if these support multiple keypresses or not?

Mine is a bit iffy so I'd say not properly, tho it does allow resets and shift-letter etc..
