Amiga M600 design concept
First I apologize if this is in wrong forum, really couldn't find any similar thread.
After finally getting A600 few months ago, I was overwhelmed (again) how cool this machine was. Not that great from HW side, but design and ergonomics are just perfect for home computer. I'm really sad A600 wasn't AGA based, but that is another story ![]() Ok, here's design brief: Laptop based on Amiga A600 design, distinctive brand marks, cool and fun ![]() This is WIP, so you're free to request features ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Brat Amigista iz Novog Sada
![]() Amigan brother from New Now ![]() Oh how I wish this could become true... Maybe with next gen FPGA boards ? Also, I think there are too many keys left and right of SPACE. Should be two on the left and two on the right, then cursor keys. Large Return key is a must !!! |

if you were willing to scrap the floppy and replace DF0 with those SD readers faking as a floppy drive this could actually work!
you may need to remove or adjust the taller components like RF modulator and laying down the tall capacitors. sadly i doubt you'd have room for an A604 expansion though, which would make this a viable retroportable project for WHDLoad etc. question though, where would the battery go, given that the left, right and rear are needed for the ports, and the only space underside would be where an expansion would sit. |

@Lord Aga:
![]() First key on the left is Fn key ![]() It's bit tricky to make Amiga keyboard 2mm high. @diablothe2nd: This is not A600 rebuild, this is what I imagine A600 could be today in laptop form. So new motherboard is must (even having 030 inside ![]() |

ah, i thought you were designing a portable 600
![]() I still think you could squeeze a genuine 600 into that form factor though with a bit of patience, which would imo be more impressive. but I wish you good luck if/when you start on a physical version! ![]() |

I'd say it's possible with FPGA Arcade. The board is small. Has super fast 020 (same as fast 030 really), integrated flicker fixer (well not really, but it doesn't need one to display pic on modern monitors), PS/2 keyboard, mouse...
Doable, doable... ![]() |

Now that really would be the ultimate geek toy - an FPGA dev board in laptop form factor!
