To boot an UAE from USB?
Hi again
So after looking around on the internet I read, or as far as I can understand, you can boot it straight from a USB. I'm a bit confused about how to though as this is all new to me. Some say you can boot it with Linux whilst someone said you can boot it straight without. Something about booting it with AmigaSYS, I'm still researching and wanted to know if anybody has already done this and could tell me what to download? Many thanks, Ed |

Probably one of the easiest ways is to install MS-Dos on the USB and then just edit autoexec.bat to start UAE
You can also use Windows or Linux as your main OS I belive there are some packages around... X-Amiga and I think amiga explorer has a self booting version. then theres Amithlon or Aros x86 which now has a kind of intergrated uae - Not sure about usb booting or just CD though |

That's interesting. I never thought about running dos from a USB.
If I can run WinUAE in dos that would be great. I'll have a look at X-Amiga and others also. Thanks for your time |

WinUAE requires Windows, thus the Win-prefix. UAE can of course not boot on its own - you need an operating system (and no, not AmigaOS ). Some kind of Linux setup running an UAE variant on startup will be your best bet, since Linux comes with a wide variety of drivers, and the USB drive can then be very "portable" - able to boot on many computers. I guess Boo Boo really meant DosUAE, but I don't think that's a) a good alternative and b) it's hard to find and totally unsupported.
This might be interesting: http://wowohl.de/Amiga_XP_x86.pdf |

Interesting, I'll have to give these two a try out.
