Cnet CN40
I currently have a problem with a PCMCIA ethernet card... namely the CNET CN40
When I first turn on my Amiga everything is fine, link light comes up. As soon as a drive is accessed however I loose the link light. I can query the card using the card_info tool that comes with cnet.device (from aminet) and the genesis TCP stack can contact and begin a connection. I just have no network activity. Anyone have any ideas why this is? Amiga Specs: Amiga 600 with 68000 (Yes.. I am using the cnet.device.000) 2MB of chip ram PCMCIA Network card IDE CD Rom IDE 2.1GB Hard Drive Workbench 3.1 cnet.device installed (etc) |

May be just maybe you don't have enough power
You already are running a CD Rom and a HD is it all all off the native Amiga power supply ?
If so it would explain why as soon as you access a drive you lose the pcmia card. Of course I,m only guessing here as if you are already using external additional power supply for your HD & CD Rom I,m basically clueless , while I have experince of running A600 with additionals I never got as far as making it net capable so I wish you luck |

I'm using a PC at power supply to power all the drives
That thought went through my head as well so I even ended up powering the internal floppy off the PSU as well.. lol |

Can you run an IDE CD drive on the Amiga's internal IDE port? I thought you couldn't.....

http://hosting.ofdarkness.com/miggy/ Current state of the A600... That's running Monkey Island from an IDE CD Drive connected to the amiga. (WinUAE -> Hard Drive Installed -> Folder as hard drive -> CD -> Amiga) |

I've been using
A600 with 68000 2mb chip RAM PCMCIA Network card (3COM) IDE 20Gb Hard drive KS3.1 & WB3.1 Miami TCP/IP stack Amiga Explorer It's ok for me, but I am using a different TCP/IP stack and a different PCMCIA driver (3C589.device). What is genesis like? Can you still download / register it? Miami eats all but 400kbyte of RAM and you cannot use the MUI version you have to use the GTLayout version. I have other strange things with my A600 setup: The Trapdoor RAM expansion isnt always recognised and you have to re-boot... When using WHDLoad, if the hard drive is accessed the screen and sound goes blank for a second. Try Turrican 3 WHDLoad on the A600... funny or what? Transfers via Ethernet make the composite video loose chroma lock (black and white) every few ms. |

Genesis is OK, but it kills off your RAM (MUI only).. Gunna be putting an apollo A630 in there just after xmas and I can have an extra 32mb with that so that'll sort that problem. I don't think u can register genesis any more so it has a 30 min cutoff >< But it's faster than Miami apparently... I tried using AmiTCP by itself but that just totally killed my workbench installation... how nice of it >< Got bored of trying with the cnet card now and I have 2x 3com Etherlink III 3C589 coming ^^ So that'll sort my problems there I don't have turrican3... what happens with it? |

I have not been able to find an Apollo A630 at a reasonable price from anywhere, so I am waiting for Individual Computers new equivalent. If you ever find somewhere selling 'em let me know.
I was thinking of getting a PCMCIA RAM card for the time being. If you play Turrican 3 WHDload on A 68000 Amiga it works but at like 1/2 speed, even the music |
