Mission Elevator
Who remembers this killer game? I used to have it years ago on an old nukebusters compilation disk but have never seen or found it since...
For those who don't remember it was a clone of the platform elevator game on arcade & C64 and involved searching stuff like in Impossible Mission. I particularly remember opening doors to reveal granny's, naked woman and a punk guy that tells you to fuck off anyone? |

There's four copies in the TOSEC database. Three of those are available on planetemu. Only takes a tiny bit of research...

I had plenty of fun playing it on my C128, but I never got it working for longer stretches on my A1200.

It works!
Game works in 0.8.22 R1 or higher, but I admit it's real hard to configure.
You CANNOT use a standard configuration here. You need 100% sound emulation [1], 'more compatible' mode in CPU settings and 512K total RAM only. (Turning on slow mem causes problems!) Config attached - works like a charm. [1] (0.8.22 finally has 100.0% sound-to-graphics accuracy in the "Announcement from headquarters..." intro part, whilst older versions played the sound a couple of ticks later!) |

You're welcome.
Feedback is highly appreciated, though... There's usually someone having problems with my configs, whilst another one says it works perfectly. |

Ok..well it certainately seems to work fine as the sound is now 100% on the typewriter screen. But now I can't input anything at the 'identify yourself' prompt..

There's another caveat you got to consider.
You must have your desired input device set BEFORE you are at this screen. If you don't have a real joystick but booted up the game *with* 'PC Joystick 0' set, and want to switch to keyboard emulation by pressing F12 when you are at that screen, it's already too late! You might not be able to type anything because you pressed the mouse at this stage. You must not do that. For example, use Keyboard Layout A and press the '0' on the numeric keypad for fire. *Then* you should've been able to type your name. |

Nope! Even with Keyboard layout A selected I still can't enter my name and start the game...'0' works fine for fire though. I do use a control pad though and I should point out that it AND the keyboard were working fine when I used the old config.

Hmm, now I could reproduce the problem.
It only works if you set Keyboard Layout A before starting the emulation. I changed from 'PC Joystick 0' to 'Keyboard Layout A' when the title picture showed up, and it was already too late. I couldn't input anything. Hope this info helps... |

No go. It still won't let me input my name

OK, try to disable all drives except DF0.
Maybe that's the problem. I can make it work with all drives enabled as well, but it's really like gambling ... sometimes you succeed, sometimes you don't. |

hehe...I've actually had to disable extra drives from the start to avoid running out of memory! lol..we must be getting closer though..

Try to uncheck 'Detect idle CPU', maybe this causes some confusion on your system.

But you shouldn't get an A1200 to do that job then. It will fail on you if you try running Mission Elevator on it. You might get as far as getting to take two lives before it crashes but most likely it just won't load.
Much like impossamole. |
