Cleaning up an A1200HD

Hi everyone!

I picked up an A1200HD and want to clean the Workbench and System of all the clutter of programs I'll never need or use. What's the best way to do that? I confess, I've forgotten so much of even simple nuts & bolts operations, I don't want to screw up the OS since I didn't get any disks with this unit.

Thanks.

The best way would get some workbench disks from eBay.. A complete set shouldn't be too much and then format the hd and try a fresh install... I did this for my A600's HD

Another way (but long winded and free).. Would be to set an A1200 HD configuration in winuae, install workbench and then just compare the files...

Hiya,

It depends what you want to do with it, but you might want to check out http://classicwb.abime.net/

Then 'find' an OS (3.9 is nice if you've got some RAM) and use WinUAE to build a nice little Workbench

If I can find the OS disks for my A600HD, that should work, right? I believe they are 2.04, but I'm not positive. I'm actually more concerned with compatibility with Music-X than having the latest Workbench. I also have Amiga Forever, but I find the running of Music-X on it to be inconsistent and quirky, with many lockups, Gurus, and general problems.

If I find those disks, perhaps someone could remind me of the process of wiping this A1200HD and the format/install of OS 2.04? I haven't done it since the early 1990s!

Thanks, everyone!

Workbench 2.04 will work but does Amiga Forever contain Workbench 3.x
Some way of transferring stuff from PC - Crossdos/Floppy ,PCMCIA, WinUae>HD................
Check if you have crossdos before formating your HD if your going to use that methoid
