@nujack:

Interesting! I don´t think it´s a sort of copy protection.
Did you try CloneCD?

@viddi: I tried different tools like Fireburner, WinCD and CloneCD but these tracks couldn`t be read. Maybe a problem of my CD-drive. ;O(

Didn't know this was available for CD32. I've played the PC version at the time. I remember pleasant orchestral music. Nice game.

Maybe give Alcohol 120% or IsoBuster a go

@nujack: Tested it on my CD32. Colors look ok until you select "Holmes' Introduction". False colors at this and afterwards but works otherwise. "Instructions" works completely. Videos don't work at all, sound is fine.

@DamienD: I tried IsoBuster too, can't read the tracks. Maybe I will try reading it on the Amiga later this week.

Hi, just noticed this thread ...

I actually have a brand new copy of Consulting Detective listed on eBay right now (though there's only one day to go ...)

[ see http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?sass=dllm ]

Do you guys want me to try and create a CD-Image? If so, would .ISO be ok?

You can try to create a ISO file. But neither me nor nujack had success with that yet. Somehow tracks 2-4 seem to cause some problems. I tried to read it on a PC with different software and on an Amiga 1200 with a DVD drive, but only the other tracks could be read. I couldn't be bothered to try imaging it on my CD32 yet, as it is unexpanded and trying to get 300+ MB over a Sernet cable is probably not fun. Maybe someone has a CDTV/CD32 with a HD and the CD and can try to image it.

When it is a multi-track cd you should use Isobuster for a proper BIN/CUE.

CloneCD (CCD) or Alcohol120% (MDS) would be fine also I think.

WOW! While you're at it could you PLEASE make an iso of Prehistorik CDTV as well? I've been looking for it fer AGES!

Also, I'd say CloneCD or Alcohol 120% is the way to go to be on the safe side. I find it hard to believe that there could be a CD protection from the CDTV days that those two softs wouldn't be able to handle... Really.

That's true, so it doesn't matter which format. There were no cd copy protections on such old games, so a CCD, CDI, MDF/MDS, BIN/CUE... etc would be fine.

Thanks everybody for all the advice, I'll give it a shot.

And yes, I'll try to do the same for the Prehistorik CD.
