Amiga OS 3.2.2.1 - DefIcons Issue

So... decided to scour modland for more music to listen to and ofc anything compatible with a music player such as Hippo/etc i decided to add DefIcon entries for the music types i have not yet added, all was going well, added a handful and they launched Hippo perfectly fine.

Then i added a 5th extra not long ago, just for Future Player, quit emulation (FS-UAE) went off and did some other stuff, kicked up FS-UAE again, booted into WB and was instantly greeted with a DefIcons error message.

Never seen this before, out of memory? i clearly have memory left, does anyone know if DefIcons can just up and glitch out for random reasons, if so should i copy back my backup prefs file and try again or is there a hard limit to how many entries you can have?

Strange, it could be that there is a corruption in the DefIcons prefs, or an error in the Datatypes Descriptor of a specific audio format.

could be, when i try to load deficonsprefs the system goes black/crashes/reboots. if its as simple as that i always maintain whole system backups so can just try again, i only added 5-6 before this happened so its not like i lost much, it was just a new problem i hadnt seen before.

To be on the safe side, also run an antivirus scan, usually strange mestas come from an infected system

That the Prefs Editor causes a crash sounds like a corrupted file to me.
Isn't the file some sort of compiled code compared to the orther prefs files? That's at least what I remember reading somewhere and being one of the reasons why there hasn't been a real editor for so long.

Actually in my opinion the best choice is not to use deficons.prefs.

Basically delete or rename deficons.prefs and just use Datatypes Descriptors, the ones you are missing you can create, or take on AROS One x86
