Roadshow TCP/IP stack. CNET driver issue.

I'm having problems with Roadshow TCP/IP stack and my network card.

Here is the network card I have...

https://retroready.one/products/link...12700522086470

The card should work with CNET.device (unit 0). On attempting to mount the card via AddNetworkInferace (or by double clicking the CNet mountlist in DEVS:NetworkInterfaces all I get is: could not open CNET.device unit 0 (Device/unit failed to open).

My Amiga already has CCRESET fitted via the KA21 solderless board which is here:

https://amitopia.com/gayle-reset-fix-amiga-1200-ka-21/

My PCMCIA port is working fine (I also use a CF card adapter for transfering stuff so I can rule out its a fault with the PCMCIA port). I've also tried pulling out the network card and reinserting it after rebooting. Still I get 'could not open CNET.device unit 0 (device/unit failed to open). I beginning to think the network card is knackered is their anything I can try to solve this issue?

N.B I tried launching Prepcard just to see if Workbench picks up the network card. It detects the card just fine and it's listed as a LinkSYS 10bT Intergrated PC Card (EC10T) Version 4.1. Just now need some help to get it working with RoadShow.

Hopefully somebody will have a solution.

You could try the Network Boot disk which auto configures common network cards. If it works then at least you can copy over the necessary files for your own set up.

Device names are case sensitive. The correct name is cnet.device in all lower case. If the error is about CNET.device, then it's because the name is spelled incorrectly.

I remember having huge problems getting my Amiga online so here's my notes about it if it's of any help. I'm also using Roadshow and cnet-compatible card.

Driver DEVS:Networks/cnet.device - If I remember correctly, there were different versions depending on the CPU so use the right one. They were all included in the cnet-package when I downloaded it.

DEVS:Netinterfaces/Cnet - Including these (and only these) lines:
device=cnet.device
address=192.168.1.65 <-- the static IP I wanted for this computer
requireinitdelay=no <-- propably not needed but it's been there from the beginning

DEVS:Internet/Name_resolution - Including this (and only this) line:

nameserver=what.suits.your.network <-- If everything is right, you should be able to ping for example 8.8.8.8 even if this line is wrong or missing

DEVS:Internet/routes
default=what.suites.your.network <-- I have it 192.168.1.1 which is the IP of my router.

And that's all I think there is to it. Boot up the computer and try for example the ping above. Networking on the Amiga seems to be one of those things that can take years of trying every now and then, but when you get it done it's no big deal after that. In your case you at least have an Amiga-compatible card from the start, I tried at least 3 different cards before buying something that was clearly stated as working with the Amiga :-)

Thank you PDrill. Quick ping test to google DNS and 0% packet loss. IBrowse also working. That worked a treat !

Good to hear. For years I've had the habit of making simple 1-2-3 instructions for everything that didn't go so well at first, so the next time I'm in the same situation I don't have to fight the same fight again and try to remember how it's won :-)
