3D Polygon fun Powerboat USA/Heat Wave?
I was looking through Amiga games from 1990 today and came across Powerboat USA/Heat Wave. It looks pretty cool to me, I love 3D polygon stuff given half a chance - but I don't recall seeing it, back in the old days. It's got some nice details, instrumentation, various setings and options and views, a course editor, options to customise the boat in the pits.... I wonder if it responds well to accelerators.... No WHDLoad slave unfortunately. Does anybody recall it fondly, or otherwise?

yes, i played with it, but i don't remember if there is speed up with accelerators. There is no WHDLoad, but you can install on Harddisk.

Never heard of this game before so I wrote an ADF to disk and tested it on my A1200 with TF1230 50mhz. I would say that yes it looks faster than a video I watched from an A500.
It needs relokick to boot otherwise you get a guru meditation [ Show youtube player ] |

Yes that certainly seems to be going at a fair lick. Are there any options to increase detail etc? |

Just had a look and yes there is. Also an option to double or quadruple the frame speed! The quad frame setting makes it crawl though.

Very cool. :-) I'd like to try it on my 060 but I'm PiStormed up at the moment. Does it hang together as a fun game? If it does, it would be awesome to get it a WHDLoad slave. I could try bodging something with my pathetic skills with the generic slave. Is it it AmigaDOS format with files and drawers on the floppy? |

I've been struggling with this for the last hour. I can get the game to load select various options etc, but some of the necessary game screens (Registration, Select Boat etc.) leave me on that screen with no way back to the game. If you got it to work is there any chance you could put it in The Zone? Apart from trying the game out, it would be nice to see how you did it. Disclaimer: I am a bit stoopid with this stuff. :-) P.S. Although I could move the pointer around with the mouse, I had to use the keyboard, as the mouse buttons were not recognised. |

Has anybody managed to get this installed on an accelerated 1200?

I've uploaded my generic WHDLoad install to the zone.
