This is cute but I always wanted to do more with my Amiga than use it as a games console. It always depressed the hell out of me that more people treated the amiga as a toy than as a serious computing platform. The games were fun, don't get me wrong, but doing things like Vista terrain animations, making art in Deluxe Paint and DigiPaint, and 3d renderers like Turbo Silver, etc., were "serious fun" for me.

Sure, but 30 years later, games can still be fun.. Meanwhile, productivity software hasn't aged that well ;-)

There's plenty of productivity software that holds up well, some that doesn't ... and a lot of dross. Whatever floats your boat, be it original hardware or a Raspberry Pi simulator with an onscreen keyboard.

Truth!

Not gonna get a gig with a H'wood studio doing 3 second animations rendered using Vista 1.0

What I'd buy in a second is the following product:

A keyboard formed like a A500, with space inside for a couple of SSD harddrives with USB3-connection, a built-in USB3 hub, 2 Amiga joystick ports to connect retro joysticks.

The keyboard should be fully functional and of good, lasting quality.

Combine this with the joypad and tank mouse for the A500 Mini.

This way, it would be possible to just run everything in simulation on a Windows PC, but still have the "Amiga-feeling"

The "Amiga-feeling" should include, once you're done for the day, flipping up the keyboard legs and sliding the keyboard into the garage. Anything else won't feel like a real Amiga.

If you are used to the Amiga 1000 feeling that is, but most used the all in the keyboard models

It looks like its will be using WHDLoad to loads the games in its carousel, it has Pinball Dreams as one of its games that was never used a controller to play it so it probably using the WHDLoad version cause all games have to be able to be played without a keyboard.

Perhaps we need to wait and see what actually comes out first?

Unless you want to criticise the form factor (which they are obviously aware of - hence the ability to plug a keyboard in). For me, this may actually be something they got right...

Mine is on order so we shall see.

I would be interested, but only if it can be hacked to act like real Amiga. Have a hard drive and OS.

It's not always just about function though, sometimes something that looks like a proper / official product can be fun to have instead of something home-made looking.
