Fixing disks for TOSEC

Seems my disk and this file in TOSEC: LSD Parasite's Utilities 12 (1991-12)(LSD)[b corrupt files].zip appear to have 2 corrupt files: 'Kb' (33944 bytes) and 'systest' (52588 bytes).

I also noticed that these 2 files are actually on other LSD disks:

LSD Legal Tools Disk 008 (1992)(LSD).zip has 'systest' 52588 bytes
LSD Legal Tools Disk 012 (1992-08)(LSD).zip has 'Kb' 33944 bytes

Wondering if this can be fixed in place with ADF Workshop 'Pro' as mai fixed a disk for me doing the same thing, replacing just the data that was damaged by using an identical file!

Is it possible to fix this disk and have a working one in TOSEC?

Did you just file copy the new files over the bad ones or just repair the damaged sectors?

Fixing LSD Parasite's Utilities 25

So, another disk with corrupt files, this time it doesn't appear to be in TOSEC: LSD Utilities 25 (1992-04)

2 Powerpacked docs are corrupt:
docs/csh.doc.pp (41448 bytes)
source/csh/comm3.c.pp (13104 bytes)

I've found the C-Shell 5.19 archive on the net and compressed the relevant docs with Powerpacker as data and they are identical in size to the corrupt files!

ADF in the Zone along with an ADF containing the 2 powerpacked docs!

This time you wanted to test me!

c/nuke | 13.284|00000000|OK|OK|KO|1990.09.07 15:38|Sect 1756 seq 26 => Wrong data block key and sequence

is also corrupt on disk.
so startup-sequence is even cancelled.
your uploaded powerpacked files does not fully match the needed files, i had to edit one single byte, probably different Powerpacker version used or different option(s) used.

BTW: just create a general thread, instead creating new thread for each single disk!

Thanks mai, these disks are nearly 30 years old so I have no idea if i've messed with them or the person I copied them off had a bad copy!

I wan't sure about the powerpacker version, think I used 3.0A as docs seemed to be packed with PowerPacker 3.0 according to DLD!

If a mod can merge my 2 threads into one and change the title to 'Fixing disks for TOSEC' or whatever you deem appropriate, then I can add disks as I find them!

In most cases it's not necessary to try out each single version of Powerpacker (its time consuming and in the end often the desired result is not achieved), because relevant packed files are on some other disk(s) too!

LSD Utilities 28 + Compact Tool-Box Issue #23

These 2 will be more of a challenge mai

Seems this disk is corrupt but not indicated so in TOSEC: LSD Utilities 28 (1992-04)(LSD).zip

Can't find any files to fix this one! The files that are corrupt:
blitzlibs/2dlibrary/test (16976 bytes)
blitzlibs/3dlibrary/test (17804 bytes)

Seems to be a Developer version of Blitz Basic 2.0!

Next up is Compact Tool-Box Issue #23, again one file is corrupt but cannot locate a replacement: Spaint.DMS (342396 bytes)

ADF of this one in the Zone!

I don't think I found those particular docs on any other LSD disk!

TOP 5 based on cylinder identification :
1) 100.0% [35CF3CF0] SpectraPaint v1.2 - Upgrade Disk (1994)(Great Valley Products)
Warez scene - AQ BBS 03 - AM022694 - 1Z_TB23 - SPaint
Warez scene - AmigaCD.3 - UTILS - SPAINT
Warez scene - VBS CD4 - PD14 - spaint12
Now i have a hint where to look for this image in original DMS format.
I have taken from Warez scene - VBS CD4 - PD14

You could have too, all databases for ADF-Workshop are freely available:

That's just what I was thinking, update the databases, don't know why i've not done it since I installed ADF Workshop!

Anyway, now all updated, but boy do all those DB's slow down the loading time!!

Thanks for fixing LSD Utilities 28 too BTW !

Magnetic Fields XXX Slideshow

So another one i've stumbled upon, no idea what it's release title is but it's a Magnetic Fields slideshow by cosy!

ADFW does not identify it and has no file corruption but one image has been damaged but still displays, it's PICF, ADF in the Zone!

If ADF-Workshop can not detect any file corruption, then there is nothing to fix for ADF-Workshop!
However fixed disk in attachment.

Yes, I understand that, but I was saying that the disk itself isn't recognised in teh DB so had no idea where to look for a file, there must be thousands of XXX disks out there

Thanks for fixing another disk, think i've found another one too
