Floppy disk GameBase Amiga Temporary(?) Downloads [OBSOLETE]

This thread is obsolete, please go to GameBase Amiga Files and Torrents

Salutations,

I am opening this thread to easily provide and manage GameBase Amiga downloads on mass hosting services.

I am opening it here (Amiga scene) for lack of a GameBase Amiga project section (:hint: :hint: ). I hope nobody minds. I have also already posted some of the links here in reply to a request in req.Apps, but this thread is more complete and easier to find for everybody.

The following download links might stop working at any time and the host(s) might try to do bad things to you and your computer, like show you indecent ads or install spyware on your computer. You've been warned, so use them at your own risk and with care.

For other (and safe) GameBase Amiga related downloads (including the database itself) visit the GameBase Amiga homepage. Also look there for general information on GameBase Amiga (prerequisites, known problems, credits, etc.).

GameBase Amiga homepage: http://gbamiga.eLowar.com

GameBase Amiga - (Almost) All You Need (v1.0 and v1.1) on smartorrent.com
A torrent with (almost) all you need to set up and update GameBase Amiga:

GameBase Amiga - (Music|Boxscans|Games) (v1.0) on Savefile.com
Music, Boxscans and Games will soon also be available at this Savefile project:

YourFileHost.com Downloads
All of these downloads were apparently lost in a server crash.

GameBase Amiga v1.1 Downloads
See the GameBase Amiga Homepage for available downloads.

That's all for now. Enjoy.

Quick question the gamebase page at elowar says that

There are well over 4000 games with descriptions and over 750 games (.adf) fully configured (Direct download on mass host). So where are the missing 3250 games? Were they not included for a reason?

I'd just like to know so I can figure out where to start at filling those in.

Thanks

This was only the first release, the setup for all games will be take some time. Wait for a next release, with more included games.

For all you guys who asked "IS THAT ALL?!"

No! That's NOT the full TOSEC Games ADF set, as the 'A' letter alone takes about 1 CD! It's just all the alt-versions left out, but that means that it might contain lots of FAULTY games whilst the alt-versions contain the working ones. Take this with a grain of salt.

Indeed andreas is most likely correct in the assumption that a percentage may be faulty

But that is the problem with a project of this size

By making an early release last year it could not have everything spot on......But how long do you keep a thing in testing by a few ? untill you need to find out if it's target users have a need for it ?

This is an ongoing project that will eventually contain the best working configuerations for the games it lists.

But as this is yet another free in-house project it needs user bug reports & corrections from knoledgeable sources such as the above poster to make that a fact sooner rather than later

Of course there could be some dodgy disks in there, but here we have andreas talking about a subject he obviously knows nothing about!

It's not just the first adfs in a tosec set chosen with the alts left out, in many cases its the alts im using. As it says on the homepage "Great care has been taken in choosing the ideal version of each configured game."

So thank you andreas for having such faith in me.

And that's how is should be. Look at gamebase 64, only the best working versions are in their database. Sometimes there are 2 or 3 but mostly one nearly 100 % version of a game.

ok so basically the 3000+ games are missing because the team has not gone thru, picked and configured the best working version?

Makes sense. So those entries are in the database, but no .adf file has been selected to represent them.

That's right, and it will take a while to add all of them I'm afraid. However a sizeable update should be coming in May.

Is this the same as GamebaseAMY or this is different project??

GB web site still points to abime's GBAmy web site, witht the version .1c as the latest version.

Is there archive for screen shots as well?

IMHO the biggest missing feature of GameBase projects is auto update option such as one in Offline List or Lemonade.

@ eLowar - your site seems to be down. (downloads do work, as they are not hosted there...)

It's got nothing to do with Amy which is pretty much dead.

I've not bothered telling the actual gamebase site about this project as I don't intend to use GameBase any longer than I have to. A new and better frontend is going to be coded.

Do you have more info on that or that's just fact?

Lemonade seems nice at the moment, with promising new beta version coming now any day.

I can't access above site to download database files, can you please add it to the zone?

Nothing is set in stone yet but the idea is to be gamebase compatible and be able to import gamebase databases. So it won't just be limited to being an Amiga frontend. It's also planned to be cross platform. It should end up doing everything gamebase does but without any of its restrictions.

@anubis

I'm not sure if I even have the release version of the database anymore, you'd probably be better off waiting for the site to come back online (which hopefully won't be much longer)

http://gbamiga.elowar.com/ is now working again, although it's taking a while to load for me.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
