GVP A500-HD8 questions
Hi.
1. I'm trying to find someone who sells the ROM chip for a GVP series II A500-HD+ (revision 3 board). 2. Currently the board is populated with 4x1mb SIMMS. I want to expand it to the maximum 8MB with 2x4mb SIMMS. According to "https://amiga.resource.cx/exp/impact500mk2", the board uses 120ns SIMMS that are hard to find. Is it possible to use faster, like 80ns SIMMS? 3. I've replaced the old SCSI hard drive with an SCSI2SD card and this uses a lot less power, so I have been thinking that the GVP board can be powered by the A500 that has a new PSU and not use the old GVP PSU. I've found some pages that discuss and describe how to do it, "http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=59152" and "http://members.iinet.net.au/~davem2/overclock/a500hd.html". Is this safe or should I keep using two PSU's? 4. The page "http://members.iinet.net.au/~davem2/overclock/a500hd.html" describes the process for a different board revision than mine. The revision 3 board already has pins for jumpers in place for CN5 and CN6 and they are open, and also on CN15 and CN16 that are closed. What to do, close CN5 and CN6 and leave CN15 and CN16 closed or should they now be opened? |

And as I wrote before, my board revision is different from the one on that page. In the board on that page, all four jumpers are open but in my board CN5/CN6 are open and CN15/CN16 are closed. After closing CN5 and CN6 what should I do about CN15 and CN16? |

Just guessing, move the jumpers from CN15 and CN16 to CN5 and CN6.
If you want to take the guesswork out of it, use your multimeter and check which pins of the jumpers are connected together and which pins are connected to the rear power port and which go to the AmigaBUS connector.. |
