A600/A1200 internal IDE->CF adapter

If anyone is interested I've got the product codes for the best internal compact flash adapters for the A600/A1200.

They have very similar sounding names:

SLCI4404 = http://www.soarland.com/en/index.php...product_id=175

& STCI4402

These plug directly into the motherboard over the 44-pin connector. They don't need power. Cant get simpler than that.

Compatibility is dependant on the CF card you use with it. For guaranteed compatibility it is best to stick with SanDisk, but they are a bit expensive so you might want to experiment.

The problem is the Amiga IDE interface is so old (ATA 0) that some cheap CF cards are not backwards compatible to something that slow.

Anyhow I just thought I'd leave my findings. I think it was Zetro or someone else here who first put me onto this type of CF card which requires no ribbon cable.

Yes, those are very nice. I have a couple. They seem to sell for more on ebay, so alternate sources are always better.

A regular idecf adapter is $1 but the angled ones are $11 and there's the word "Amiga" in the listing title. :-D

AFAIK they don't make 'em.

You should be able to convert a male dual STCI4403 into a female with a bit of soldering.

Although why you'd want a dual one I dunno. Do you really need 16Gbytes?

Good question... i really wouldn't know :-D I just like the thought of having a dual one... then again... an upgrade in the future is only a few euro's...

So what store buy's amiga capable ones for a nice price and shipping to .nl ?

They are all "Amiga capable" they are just passive. It's the CF card make and model which affects compatibility.

If you are asking "which shop stocks these particular CF adapters"? I dunno. EBAY from china or hongkong is your best place.

Or direct from the manufacturer on the above links

They're kinda neat but more expensive than the 1$ CF adapter +CF card that Alexh said and we many use

Looks dubious, but you never know. CF cards have special chips to reduce wear rate to an acceptable amount.

Any links? Prices?

Those look like they'd be pretty cool for a "standard" configuration 600/1200 which doesn't need the HDD removed all the time.

definitelly more expensive than cf+adapter, but they works in buddha controller (where cf fails)

for a1200 its just waste of money

I believe that nothing is a waste of money especially when it comes to hobbies that most of us putted enough money on...
I already saw photos of Solid State disks inside 1200 Amigas costing 180$... I believed they were crazy but why not? If you can afford it and if you feel you want to make yourself another present (lol) why not?
I stated from the beginning of my post with the photos that these are most expensive and untested but grabbed my attention as they are deffinitelly more fancy

I'm using CF adapter+CF card for years now and I'm quiet happy but I thought of sharing with you all these alternative solutions only for the info of it...
