Whale's Voyage 2 - CD32
This maybe in the wrong topic so apologies in advance (i'm sure the moderator's will correct me if so).
I purchased this a while ago although I do not believe it to be Whale's Voyage 2 and I am seeking confirmation . When the game boots up it's EXACTLY like Whale's Voyage 1 however a look on the disk contents shows this (see picture below). I have checked with Whales Voyage 1 and alot of these files are not on. I'm presuming the game should look similar to the ECS/OCS version:http://hol.abime.net/1694. Any clarification would be vastly appreciated |

Sorry obviously I wasn't very clear when explaining.
When I run the game it is exactly same as Whales Voyage 1, but can anyone explain the screenshot ? A possible explanation is the CD32 edition is an updated version ? another is I've been sold a kipper! |

Check what files it starts in the startup-sequence.... maybe it's both WV 1 and 2 on the CD.... WV 1 might be the WV_Disk1-6 which it might startup... and WV 2 might be in the WV2 folder...
and what does the CD look like??... is it a home made copy? |

Not really sure about homemade, sure didn't look like an original though.
Whale's Voyage 1 is definitely the CD Edition (as per title screen). It looks like your onto something with them both being on the same CD though, now how the hell do I boot Whale's Voyage 2 ? |

No doesn't seem to be any option to load Whales Voyage 2 but being a CD32 owner originally I not really up on the in's and out's of the Amiga range, would this file be too big for 'The Zone!' so I can let someone with more know how have a look ?
The file after compressed is 47 Mb |

The Zone has a file limit of 6 mb.... so either rar it down to several files under 6mb or upload it here http://.de (100mb file limit)

1. There is no Whale's Voyage 2 CD32 version. More, Whale's Voyage 2 is only available in ECS version. There supposed to be AGA version and even CD32. Four years after original release Alive Mediasoft was about to release it but it ended with teasers.
2. I assume that what you have is Whale's Voyage 1 CD32 which was produced after 1995 and as a bonus the second part of the game was added. 3. You may as well being cheated. DMSED directory and DMS2Disk file look pretty suspicious to me. |

Xorex:Yes that does ring a bell, it came with a generic CD label.
Mailman:Thanks for that at least I know for sure now, Perhaps you should inform the HOL guys so they can amend the database. Bippym/Ironclaw:If you still want me to upload let me know Bippy's ftp and I wil sort. |

Well then, maybe we should have a look at the cd then after all?
My recommendation is to upload your cd to http://.de/ as it's fast and require no registration. when uploaded you will get 2 links, one of them is for downloading the file... so upload it and share that link and we'll have a look at your mysterious cd . |

Thats what I found on the cd (info file):
(c)2000 Alive MediaSoft (re-press by Epic) Use The DMS2Disk to extract the DMS files to your floppy drive The documentation for Whales Voyage can be found on this CD The documentation for Whales Voyage 2 should be available from the Internet (Aminet) shortly.... This CD is self bootable - It will autoload Whales Voyage Pt.1 Installation to your hard drive is highly recommended- Drag the Whales Voyage2 Drawer to your harddisk. |

So the only way of playing Whales Voyage 2 would be to go via workbench ? (CD32 owner lack of understanding in full effect ).
Hardly sounds like a CD32 game does it ? But if the year of release is as late as Mailman's post suggests wasn't the CD32 effectively commercially dead by then ? So would this be an Amiga CD title rather than CD32 ? If so does HOL need updating....so many questions, so many... |

I have found the official Whale's voyage 2 english on amiga ECS.
It's the amiga 1 mb version V1.1. I didn't have to apply any patch to put the game in english. Check the zone folks ^^ |
