How do I copy files in Workbench...
... from a floppy to HDD without removing the files on the floppy?
If I drag and drop, it will remove them from the floppy (a bit dangerous if it was a real Amiga isnt it?) If I select the files and choose the Icons|Copy, it makes a copy in the same location i.e. the floppy. |

It shouldn't be removing them from the floppy so I don't know what you were doing before.

If you drag an icon from one drawer to another drawer on the same drive, then the file is moved. If you drag it from one drive to another drive, then the file is copied.

You are much better off using CLI to copy files anyway.

Frank Bunton wrote some great guides for beginners including one about AmigaDOS' CLI.
Also have a look at KingCON. It's far superior to the original Shell/CON. |

Thanks for that. So just to confirm, AmigaDOS, Shell, CON and CLI are all the same thing?

I suggest you to install Directory Opus file manager. For me, it's a fantastic tool.
I made a quick search on aminet: http://aminet.net/package/biz/dopus/DOpus416JRbin It's very easy to install and looks wonderful If you want to learn a bit more of what DirOpus do (like unzip files, etc etc) you may download ClassicWB, run DirOpus from the package and see for yourself a DirOpus very well configured. |

I agree - I was about to post pretty much the same thing. DOpus is a godsend, quite simply. I'm not sure how I ever coped without it.
